Evaluation Complete - Plan to Improve Player Retention

Dear Taboreans -

For quite some time, players have expressed their concerns about the population of the servers. As promised, the situation has been evaluated, and a conclusion has been reached. The situation is not quite as dire as some would have you believe: The servers need only a slightly higher retention rate so that they may begin to recover their population. Therefore, from now on there will be no further instances of permabanning* on the .us servers.

However, the moderators still need some way to sanction users who exhibit repeated misbehavior. In brainstorming possible consequences the global team has had the revelation that the worst part about MMOs is the other players. Thus the best corrective action is not to reward rulebreaking with a lifelong vacation from Taborea, but instead to merge any miscreants onto their own new server. This new server is to be called Ailsforpol. To make this new community equally accessible to merged users from around the globe, the server will be housed in a new geographical location. You can test your connection to the new server by pinging this IP address 202.162.73.2. **

This selective merging method will have the added benefit that over time the moderators will likely find that less effort is needed to run live events on Ailsforpol***, and may find the remaining servers take significantly less time to patrol for cheaters. After an independent review of worldchat logs from recent visits to the servers by the GMs, we have determined that including forums rulebreakers in these selective account merges will reduce the existing servers' lingering toxicity - further improving player retention rates.

There are still some bugs**** to work out in the scripts that selectively transfer the accounts between servers, but we hope to be up and running in the near future.

with best regards,
Your Rom Team

* Any user who was permabanned before the cutoff of March 31st will retain their ban.

** As you can see this connection is excellent for this new server.
