Expanding on this because there seems to be players who don't seem to understand the term exploiting and how we determine such.
Exploit - n. - a software tool designed to take advantage of a flaw in a computer system.
With the term "software tool" loosely defined to computer gaming, it can mean simply a method in which to take advantage of a flaw.
Intentionally using that flaw over and over and over is where the exploitation comes in.
Bugs are a fact of life for any software program, new or old. Bugs will appear after something else is fixed or changed. This is a regular occurrence in any software, Operating System, game, etc. Having bugs in RoM is definitely not unheard of, and Gameforge with the developer continues to spend countless hours fixing the bug as soon as possible.
Continuously taking advantage of a bug over and over is where the "intentional exploit" comes in. With such continuous usage, you now become fully aware that what you're doing probably isn't intended because of such a high amount of gains from it. Gaining from that intentional exploitation is where the "against the Terms of Service" comes in. In such cases use of something that you think is not intended should be accompanied by a bug report.
Intentionally exploiting a flaw within the game by continuing to do it over and over and over again is where you will be punished. That punishment includes, but is not limited to, a temporary suspension of your game account(s) (those linked to your login or just the one exploiting), a permanent suspension of your game account(s) (again, all your linked by login accounts or just the one exploiting), and/or removal of those advantages gained. Note that not reading the forums or IRC channel about "known bugs" is not an excuse for usage of those bugs, as a previous point in this post mentioned, doing something over and over again means you are fully aware that what you are doing is probably not intended.
Intentionally using an item that is bugged without any major gain is not typically punishable. If a bug is present with something and you're using it "normally" (NOT using it over and over to gain a clear advantage, like many high level gears or several hundred currency items), we as GM's have methods to decipher those and pick out the ones that should be punished.
As well, using something normally and accidentally triggering a bug is also something that we can decipher. As long as you do not continue to try and use the bug to gain an advantage not intended by the game, you're fine.
Remember that if you're banned for such a violation, the ticket system is the only place in our communication channels where assistance can be sought and cases can be plead. IRC, forums or ingame is NOT the place to address these issues and you may be banned from these channels as well for violating these well established rules.
I welcome PM's if something needs more explanation.
