Questions

Downloading the game as we speak but I have some questions about the game :
(And sorry if this isn't the right category to post lol)

1 : How far can i get in the game as a f2p player?

2 : Any wardrobe function in the game? like dyes or being able to put any gear for appearance?

3 : How far i can solo in the game? Don't get me wrong,i'm fine with grouping but i usually solo to get a feel first.

I guess that's all for now.

With the current state of the game it will be real hard to make it as f2p i would say about a whole year and some change of strategic playing to be viable in endgame but since you are new you would prob take 2 years as p2p you it would take you a month if you know what your doinf but since your new and calculating the state of the game after lvling can take you 1 to 3 months to be successful of p2p and being around the right people and the 1 year to 2 years is after lvling for f2p

i Dont care or know much about wardrobe.

As far as soloing you solo reg mobs and quest by yourself with any class. As far as instances its imposs unless you gear your toon exceptionally and pic the right class combo and know the instance and know your class you can prob solo up to dod other than that you need to be 20 lvls higher i would like to say with ample gear to solo instnaces.

But basically soloing isnt possible with instances.

1) Far if you know what you're doing and you're not looking to be the best geared in the server.

2) Yes, yes. This game has a very good cosmetic function.

3) For a while every instance has 3 modes. Easy, Normal and Hard. Unless there's a very strat heavy boss (those requiring multiple people to bypass) you should be able to have something new to do every cap. The rewards are not the same tho, and in most cases, not worth the effort. So not many people bother.

Im gonna have to disagree with this statement as a healpriest I needed assistance in most zones starting at around lv60...

Im going to say for the most part dungeons that you'd be doing are Not solo'able (to an extent) one of the first dungeons (HoS) around lv55, one of the bosses requires 5 people (Altho you can solo the first 5 bosses) zs/dl (again lv55) one of the bosses requires you to do pdmg AND mdmg

it Is possible to get a toon to highlv with out dungeons/gear from dungeons, if you know what you are doing and the combo is good, I recently got a alt to lv 90 without 'pay' option

I will state why first not enough populace, second not enough resources or players running, third your new so you don't have the money or knowledge to gear properly even with guidance you need to put on alot of time to be viable. Their are people who are free and are endgame because they been playing since day one and they are in endgame guild plus they took advantage of pom event but you being new will be real hard for you with the state of the game.
Also I know healers who have solod quest just took them longer never said all classes would be fast on regular mobs also like magio said easy mode is fairly solo able in most instances and I said up to do think did is below hos, ds&zl. Might be wrong tho.
Unless you play druid or any other support class like m/wl or wl/m you won't have to really worry about paying to play if you plan on dps get ready to spend a lot of money. Tank is in between I would say, game also isn't cheap.

...one of the first dungeons (HoS) around lv55...

I'm going to disagree with you there as last I checked there were plenty of other dungeons before that one:
  • Cavern of Trials (8+, soloable with care)
  • Barren Caves (10+)
  • Taffrock Southern District [Dwarf only] (9+, 10+ recommended, soloable with care as you are given a timed buff when taking the quest)
  • Arcane Chamber of Sathkur (16+)
  • Forsaken Abbey (18+, but 22+ highly recommended)
  • Necropolis of Mirrors (30+, 35+ recommended)
  • Ruins of the Ice Dwarf Kingdom (30+, 35+ recommended)
  • Mystic Altar (38+, 42+ recommended)
  • Pasper's Shrine (40+, 45+ recommended)
  • Cyclops Lair (45+, 50+ highly recommended)
  • Kalin Shrine (48+, 50+ highly recommended)
  • Ruins of the Ice Dwarf Kingdom (48+, 50+ highly recommended)
  • Treasure Trove (48+, 55+ highly recommended due to debuffs and aoe's)
  • Heart of the Ocean (52+, 55+ highly recommended)
  • Origin (52+, 55+ highly recommended)
  • Cave of the Water Dragon (52+, 55+ highly recommended)
  • Lair of the Demon Dragon (52+, 55+ highly recommended)
  • Hall of Survivors (52+, 55+ highly recommended)

Forsaken Abbey, Mystic Altar, Pasper's Shrine and Kalin Shrine all have hidden titles that quite a few players miss.
FA needs a dungeon clear within 25 minutes and you must be below level 25 and not die during the run.
MA needs the questline active, completed within 25 minutes, secret passage opened, not dying in the run and you must be level 38 or 39.
In both cases, it's better to ask a high level that knows exactly what they are doing - especially inside Mystic Altar.
PS gives a title for a clear within 25 minutes too, but you need to be below level 40. Again, it's recommended to hgave help from someone that knows the instance.
KS just needs an item to drop from one of the bosses - [Mind Cohesion Catalyst]

In almost all cases of these dungeons, you will likely just want a higher level player to help you through them as they are really only needed for quests.
lemony2 probably refers to HoS as the "1st dungeon" asd it is the first one that you'll want to run and rerun for the loot.

Unless I'm blind you forgot paspers which also gives a title :D

Cosmetic have great features, soloing on most classes is very easy. Try to get into a guild that can help you and benefit from their knowledge and wisdom, make good use of their buff towers and stable buff to get you around. Don't mind Warriorking, he is full of rage as of now sadly and doesn't play the game anymore as he has quoted numerous times :( .

You can get a good feel of the game by yourself but knowledge is the key not to spend money where it doesn't matter.

If you play on Mithras you can look us up and find a lot of helpful people there :o

if you are too lazy to read the rest just listen to magio we saying similar stuff and wow zid actually said something i agree with XD
1. if you want to be good and f2p it's possible, believe most of the endgamers are f2p atm. Expect getting good to take a you a lot of time though, not only the game has a lot of features and things to learn about but it also takes times to get the things you need via dailies and minis. If you want to be f2p having a few alts is likely to be helpfull as you can use them to make your time in the game more efficient.

2. The wardrobe function in rom is awsome. you can put any gear into the wardrobe and make any mix of outfits and color the way you want. can have up to 10 preset outfits it's awsome.

3. you can gear yourself without having to group with people ever, also in this game you don't have to do the classic get the stuff from an instance then you can move foward and get the gear from the next instance. for first you can get endgame stats even at low level(mostly 50+) for income and it's easy to find decent crafted gear your level. If you are interested in soloing instances you will probably have to wait to have better gear to do them or to be a bit overlevel in most cases if you go with standard quest reward quest gear.

Agreement with most of what has been said here on the yes, it's possible to do f2p. More time consuming by necessity since your time is quite often used up acquiring the stuff needed to get what P2P get simply by spending money. You can easily max level as a solo player. Being new, you will make mistakes simply by not knowing what you can and cannot take on.

Zid is right about joining a guild. Information is one of the most vital functions a guild performs.

Lol all the f2p players atm used to pay dias back in the day it's just they got to a point they didn't need to buy dias I have gotten to that point several times, but getting their isn't easy most endgamers been playing since the beginning who are f2p.
Also I'm not mad or sad I just speak the truth. If you join a good guild and use add ons and use the forums and website for info on quest line and use exp events you can hit lvl cap pretty fast once probably in 3 to 6 months with all of those stuff and good gear to kill mobs for quest, but you also need to lvl your secondary to atleast lvl 70 without dias you would need to split down the quest and doing quest during exp event leave you tp starved.
When their was pwr lvl which is bannable now it used to make up from the tp starvation from quest so if you don't want to be tp starved I would say a year to get 95/70.
Also alot of current f2p can't run endgame instances unless the party is filled with op people are they will hold ppl back.
Unless you want to make 10 to 50 alts like zid and lvl them to 50 to 60 and get them attuned for the instances for pom event like zid and some others and sell those poms without using them.
Also they can't be on the same account.
Than you buy stats that are cheap like yellows also keep in mind not many endgamers so less runs atleast on Mithras can be wrong tho. Erebos probably have more runs but last I heard their top guild bteam quit who were doing most of the runs.
So even after making 10 alts lvl 50 to 60 and lvling to 95/70 and waiting till next pom event whenever that is and farmed them everyday and sold them 1mil below everyone else so they could sell quick not many can buy because ppl are broke and ones who aren't broke don't need poms anymore.
It's more I could write but I think I already wrote too much

He doesn't need to take my word for it but I'm clearly stating facts back in the day it used to take me 1 to 2 weeks to get geared it took me 3 to 4 months to catch up this time and since the state of the game is worse I could probably even say 6 months as p2p after lvling to gear up to end game as free to play I stand by my statement being 2 years maybe even more.
Last time I checked, you wanted perfect or near-perfect stats on all your gear... main reason why it takes you a long time to regear. A real f2p won't do something like that. One tier higher (t9 from the standard t8) all yellows is around 90-95% of the unbuffed attack power and over 100% of the crit of a standard t8 perfect item (someone please check the math on that). Basically, enough to be viable IF you know how to play.

How will he get the money if he is new ?
How will he get the gear and stats necessary since their or less runs and hes new ?
Basically he will nt be able to make money outside of quest because what he will be able sell stuff to get what he needs, no one will want and buy his stuff because he gots nothing they need and as it is people are also hardly buying things these days as it is.
And to be honest i actually settled all of my gear doesnt have the best statss only 3 to 4 pieces maybe.
I put into account him doing minis and sw and getting money necessary for getting puries and random extracts.
i only got 5 t9s also im nt f2p at least i wasnt

this.

a while ago i remember a "budget build" was posted, and calculations showed that bag stats and crafted/easymode gear with minimal plussing/tiering/drilling/runes got you to something like 75-80% the stats of a fully endgame toon.

Their are ways i even advise him to go all yellows in the post before magio posted but even still if he does that how most people are he wont get runs and to be able to pull off what yall are saying he would need guidance from someone who does that are previous experience of the game which clearly he doesnt have. And from all my days playing rom i have never seen a player with a budget build orr do succesfully with a budget build.
Crit helps alot and i would say you would atleast to do t7 to be ok. Than plussing is in no way easy i have spent thousands of my own dias plussing not to mention plus 20.
If we are perfectly honest most people when they are starting a run they try to add the best people possible are damn near close.
People dont like carrying people.
I know people who are geared abd suck so gear isnt everythig it takes skills and timing to and the proper class combo if you go the dps route.

That does indeed sound familiar. There are many players who enjoy their instance runs on a regular basis as they do not aim to be top-level-highest-instance-runners, and are quite happy to use whatever gear and stats they get from Easy Modes, Phirius Shells, Memento's and whatever else. It's definitely a much more enjoyable, relaxing and stress-free game that way.
Of course, you might die a bit more often and you may not stand as much chance in Siege War, but these are trade-offs that must be accepted.

Something that would "fit" into a budget build is not plussing Cape/Belt/Shoulders (items that give stamina when plussed). Usually not necessary for PvE. Would that affect your performance as a DPS? Not 9/10. If anything you're easier to heal tbh...

We already said push tiering one tier higher is pretty much equal to super best stats 1 tier lower. Trades off a bit of attack for crit rate and on some pieces even damage (if done on Chest/Legs).

For example what you would pay for 1 Detonation/Control/Vengeance of the Ravens you could buy 2-4 Ability/Demon/Triumph of Brinewind or below. This is "budget build". Not "w/e stats you get from easy modes"... Budget Build =/= Bad Gear. Basically you're safe to ignore anything and everything Yrcanos said.
