Suggestions for future of Runes of Magic

Hello all,

I’m a
returning player and I’m putting up this post in hopes that other players that
share the same passion that I do and the Devs will see and take this to heart.
Since I have been back I have seen many things wrong with the game. The main
issue is that no one is doing anything about these issues. The reason I love
this game is there are not many like it and there should be more like it. Runes
of Magic is a very meat and potatoes game and those’ve us that do play love
this aspect. I’ve done the action combat MMORPGs and after doing a dungeon, I’m
left feeling dizzy and not enjoying myself at all. I apologize ahead of time if
this post sounds like a rant. The core purpose of this post is to give my two cents
worth on recommendations and suggestion in hopes that someone will hear and take
to heart.

Graphics and stability issues

As I’ve seen
so far, the game has a lot of stability issues and graphics could be improved a
little. While I play the game, even with graphic turned down, I will crash at
least 3 to 4 times a day and many of the zones and cities are very choppy and
glitchy. So far since I returned to the game I have seen no mention or seen
anything at all about the Devs fixing the issues that are going on. Game takes
a large amount of memory to run. I haven’t seen many games that tax my computer
like Runes of magic does.

Revamp the
combat system just a little. An example would be giving each class a 3-attack
combo system which would be there bread and butter attack to improve flow of
combat. An example is knights would use Holy Strike as their combo starter, next
they use whirlwind shield, then finish with Punishment and on the last strike
you apply a holy seal debuff on target. As you use each part of a combo it will
increase the damage of your next attack. Not much else should be changed
because the combat system is still great, but just rework it just a hair to
improve flow.

Communication

Keeping
players informed or just general communication with player community. I’ve seen
a lot of complaints that no one can get a hold any GMs or anyone from the developers
in general and this is leaving player community feel neglected even though the
player community is where they are getting their money from. Don’t you think
the game would want this communication to keep players playing this game? Or
are they just gearing up to shut the game down? If this is the case then that
is truly sad because this is such a great game, or it was before the issues.

Hacking
issue that happened a few years ago. One thing to say is that this should never
have happened, and this is on the Devs for allowing it to go on for as long as
it did. Not only is this a fault on the Devs but some of the community as well.
If you can’t play the game as intended, then do not play. It’s players like the
ones that were hacking that ruin things for everyone else.

PVP and PVE

Keep pvp and
pve skill separate. What I mean is while you are doing pve your skills react to
reflect pve and then when you enter pvp your skills change to reflect that you
are doing pvp. Would not be a bad idea to add another tab to your skills page
with just pvp skills.

Remove skill
leveling from using white attacks to level skills such as one-handed axe. I
feel this is just an extra layer of complexity that is just not needed.

Remove the
accuracy system from the game or set it to when you fight a monster that is the
same level as you, your accuracy is 100% and if the monster is a few levels above
you, accuracy drops to 80% or so.

Gear

Change gear durability
to 100 flat, remove 20% modifier due to over durability. Reason behind this is
the fact that over durability gear, as far as I’ve seen, is very rare and kind of
unnecessary. Instead implement master repair hammers to increase durability to
200 temporarily and this adds 20% modifier, players stay happy, game developers
keep making producing revenue.

Death penalty

Remove exp\tp
debt and when you die you get a 5 min debuff that will stack depending on how
many times you die. Change phoenix potions to give immunity to death debuff for
1 hour

Plusing jewels

Change plusing
system back to max of +12 on gear and instead of having a different type of
jewel for each piece of equipment, combine them so there is just one kind of plusing
jewel. Change the chance of failure aspect to a 100% guarantee of success. Again,
if there is fear of lost revenue that you increase the price of the jewels to let’s
say 299 diamonds. If it is a guarantee chance of success than players will be
willing to pay in my opinion. The whole idea of having gear go to +30 was not a
smart move and in my opinion, I cannot justify paying the $19.99 amount of diamonds
for a jewel that has a chance to fail. Only one person is coming out on top in
that transaction.

Costumes

Add more
costumes to cash shop. I’ve seen lots of costumes that were in the game but now
are no longer available. Adds a level of character customization.

Make game
more accessible to players that do not have much funding. Decrease cost of phirios
token items so players that are forced to play for free can still enjoy
everything game has to offer.

Optional subscription

For fear of losing
revenue due to changes item shop changes add an optional, and I stress optional,
subscription to the game such as $12.00 that will give players a boost. Make
this subscription worth the players money. The subscription can include something
such as and increase to exp/tp gain from combat and or quests, small discount
from items in item shop, and or another 5 dailies that can be completed each
day. This is just some examples.

Thank you to
those that take the time to read this and if you agree with these suggestions
than spread the thread around in hopes some one will listen.

Graphics and stability issues
agree
Revamp the
combat system just a little.
Other than Mage/x in PvE, not necessary imo.
Communication
agree
Hacking
agree. iirc, they knew for a while and did nothing until half the population got involved. Should've stopped it sooner and maybe the game wouldn't have died so soon.
PVP and PVE Keep pvp and pve skill separate. What I mean is while you are doing pve your skills react to
reflect pve and then when you enter pvp your skills change to reflect that you
are doing pvp. Would not be a bad idea to add another tab to your skills page
with just pvp skills.
Unnecessary imo. Skills already have PvP mods on them. Dmg, CC caps, etc. I think that's enough other than a few skills that still need this modifier e.g. K/S Holy Chains and R/K Strike of Punishment Stun.
Remove skill
leveling from using white attacks to level skills such as one-handed axe. I
feel this is just an extra layer of complexity that is just not needed.
I don't disagree.
Remove the
accuracy system from the game or set it to when you fight a monster that is the
same level as you, your accuracy is 100% and if the monster is a few levels above
you, accuracy drops to 80% or so.
Not sure: Accuracy is needed for Leather wearer "defense" in the form of dodging: "Hit-vs-Dodge". Unless you mean the other type of accuracy in "Hit-vs-Miss" (this is the weapon accuracy), then I do agree.
Gear Change gear durability
I agree, but 20% mod should just be scrapped completely. Too much gear that is farmed rots in chests because nobody wants UD. Gearing treadmill is infinite for some people because of this reason.
Death penalty
No need to change imo, BAS already make u immune to debt, what would they do with ur change?
Plusing jewels
Agree that there needs a revamp to jewels. Agree that +30 was a retarded idea to begin with. What would you do to +30 items that already exist? What form of compensation to the people with these super items?

It's too late now I think... just have to make jewels not DROP on fail. Spending any kind of money on the game shouldnt' have the chance of making you WORSE OFF when you're done using up your diamonds.
Costumes
I agree. Cosmetics are money makers, as long as you have a thriving community. Which this game lacks because of terrible management. Basically everything above and below this suggestion makes cosmetics not that great of a money maker in this game. No population = no money from microtransactions, think $5. I'm willing to bet most of the money made by this game is by a handful of whales that spend thousands.
Make game more accessible to players that do not have much funding.
I agree. But implementing some of the ideas already discussed would fix this. No infinite treadmill from SUPER RARE and SUPER EXPENSIVE OD gear, having jewels not FAIL, etc. would make the game more accessible to F2P.
Optional subscription
I agree (ESO has something like this I believe). I don't mind paying for games I enjoy. I already pay for portable ah/mail/bank in this game. I'm just done getting scammed by plussing jewels...
ESO has a "Craft Bag", that would be cool. Any materials don't take up space on your actual backpack. Any of your suggestions are ok too. Like you said, something WORTH the sub, but nothing GAMEBREAKING (Convenience, not Pay2Win).

Thank you for posting. Now I can just say "I agree" instead of trying to organize ideas.

P.S. If there's enough traction on the thread, it will get forwarded and nothing will happen. On that note: Mr. Gameforge/Runewaker employee that is reading this, because our GMs forwarded this to you, I implore you to prove me wrong and do something for this game. Don't just milk the game until it dies. Thank you.

i agree with what 99% of magio's replies, but as a sidenote, I don't really mind the 20% mod from OD, just make OD drops like 50% better or something.
I have held on for years more than most at this game, watching all friends I made slowly quit over time from the past 9 years, legit there are only maybe 2-3 people left that I played with a few years ago...
here is the kicker though, every single one of them I still chat with, play other games with, or just in general keep in touch, because of the friendships I made while playing this game.
For that ill always love runes of magic.
to add, almost all those same people constantly ask, "hows rom doing? they fix anything yet or change anything?"

And I always have same reply... sadly... "nope, not yet"

so for anyone from Runewaker/GF reading, people want to come back, people want to play again, but unless things change, nobody ever will.

Same here, I agree with most everything posted here.

My thing right now is that the developers seemed to have physical dps in mind when they made "Runes of MAGIC"...

ie, all white hits are physical hits. How many mages, priests, archers, etc.. in other games do this? nearly none.

I believe that all classes deserve their own auto-attack white hit skill:

1. Scout already has Autoshot, so no change there

2. All Melee classes should continue w/ Attack as their auto-attack

3. Priests should have a Water ball attack that's just like Autoshot. Costs 10 mana and it casts based on weapon speed doing weapon magic damage.

4. Mages should have Auto - Element attacks ( Fire, Wind, Earth, etc.. ) that they set using a companion skill. Costs 10 mana and it casts based on weapon speed doing weapon magic damage.

5. Druids should have Earth Arrow changed to an auto-attack like Autoshot. No other change.

6. I don't know Warlocks, but I would think Psychic Arrows being changed to an auto-attack would work? It would be insant w/ 2 sec cd instead.

Basically, every class should have some way to auto-attack that fits their class & not just assume every class likes doing melee damage. This way, leveling up wand & staff skills could mean higher hit/crit rates w/ spells?
