C/r Energy on long fights

For those c/r who have tried Champ/rogue in Vale of Rites, have you had any issues with energy?

Let me start by saying I dps in disassembly mode or dwarf mode, not shield form (this is NOT a discussion about which is better), so I recognize that I use more energy than my larger counterparts. However, on a 50(?) second long boss fight again Mazzeren, I had 50+ rune overload hits and only 24 shadow stab hits in scrut. This means I only used shadowstab 12 times, and shadow step some other times.


I'm not sure if I'm just playing the class poorly, or if I'm running out of energy reall quickly, but on a 50 second (?) fight, I only used 12 shadowstabs according to scrut....Should be much higher I would imagine....Would like to hear from other players about their experience on longer boss fights, specifically about whether or not they run out of Energy to use their skills....standing around doing nothing but rune overloading when some things are on cooldown is kind of lame.

I have my diyce using the 100 energy potion rather than a strength of battle (when under 20 energy), only after a week of constant runs every night only 3 energy potions in total had been consumed. So I don't believe I ran out often but it did happen 3 times over the course of dozens of boss fights it would appear.

Also I only use shadow step at start and not again afterward

Month old post, but I figured I would see if I can maybe provide some kind of insight in case you haven't found anything out yet. I'm assuming that you aren't using any shadow pulses because you did not mention in your post (shadow pulse uses energy). If shadowstab costs 20 energy per and you only used 12 then that equals 240 energy. In a 50 second fight you should have only been able to use shadowstep twice (20 sec cd) which is 40 energy. So in a 50 second fight you used 280 energy. If I recall energy regens 15 every 2 seconds (standing/moving). Now if you calculate 15 energy every two seconds in a span of 50 seconds you would have regenerated a total of 375 energy. So if you are actually throwing in shadow pulses and just neglected to mention so then it kind of makes sense and you probably use waiting game running in or something so that's also another 20 energy.

and you still miss out the ch/r elite skill Death arrives that will give you 100 energy aswell for 4 times (@ start > 10 sec > 5 > 0 sec) so there you will have unlimmited energy on the first few seconds on the fight

if shadowstab only had to be used once every 2 seconds it wouldn't really be a problem, right. But being in DPS, and focusing on keeping rage for rune overload 100% of the time, you end up needing to use more than 1 shadowstab every 2 seconds most of the time. Now if you are doing it in shield form that is a different story, as chain drive will proc often enough that you mustn't rely on shadowstab so heavily.

Lately have been playing as ch/r tank more often than not, and in that case im able to use a 'burn' rotation where i do not have to worry about running out of energy and having to switch to rage skills, as rune pulse is being used enough that shadowstab will rarely drain me, even prioritizing it over my lower skilled up, Fearless blows.
