if the target of your target is hidden, and you are not in range to see them, targetting your targets target does not work, you will end up targetting nothing, as the target doesn't "exist" for you...

that being said, if you were in detection range, it is probably target's target like explained above...

@zid: did you even read the context of that post?

Yep. It's still weird that the priest would somehow auto-target the rogue in hide, is it not?

(But that's not what skibum2 asked about.)

Uure,

I believe there is a function that informs (and targets for you) whenever you become the target. I just didn't think that info could be passed to others within a group while I was hidden. There were no faces/eyes or electrics. I also thought 'detect' had a range limit, all during siege the scout almost never targeted me until I targeted the priest (never when I was deliberately far away and behind him as he was moving away).

Thanks for your help all.

it does. effective range for same lvl target is about 150-200, depending on lag, movement speed, and such...

RW has already taken steps to prevent SW from being a 1 shot fest. IMO, it's working. the honor gear gives decent damage reduction, as well as zodiac pet.

Hope this is not a derail, I have a question related to this comment. It is my understanding that PVP Honor gear does NOT give damage REDUCTION. It gives a CHANCE to RESIST damage. Some may think this is same thing, but I do not. Damage reduction in my head means every hit is reduced in damage taken. Chance to resist damage means hit with or without gear has chance of hitting you just as hard, but you have a higher % chance to resist that damage with the PVP Honor gear.

I have not tested this, and not claiming I am right, I am asking because I do not know, but I believe his statement to be wrong. The Zodiac legend pet I believe does give damage reduction like he said though.

No, honor gear will reduce the damage you take by that % every hit. It is not a "chance" to resist damage. Resistance you see in siege is magic resistance, which you get from stacking wisdom and gives you a chance to resist a magical attack.

No, honor gear will reduce the damage you take by that % every hit. It is not a "chance" to resist damage. Resistance you see in siege is magic resistance, which you get from stacking wisdom and gives you a chance to resist a magical attack.
Honor gear gives roughly 4% dmg reduction per piece, combined with the set bonuses most peoples full honor sets will provide them with a 50% reduction in incoming dmg. Resist from physical and magical dmg is also on honor gear yes, and not only magical attacks can be resisted. With the honor gear it also gives physical resistance which is a small chance of actually resisting the players physical dmg. Now as Ruisen said, wisdom helps raise your magical resistance, as do some of the pieces of honor gear, the combination of both make it much more common for a magical attack to get resisted, however both magical and physical attacks can indeed be resisted.

Wait, you can resist physical damage? I've never seen that before... I thought honor gear was physical/magic critical resistance, which reduces the opponent's chance to crit on you, but doesn't actually makes you resist and take 0 damage.

Mmm, after someone bringing it back up to me, I have only ever seen it once, and it could have possibly been a shadow prison or something that was fired near a SS or lowblow... Also, After re-reading the honor gear, it is magical/physical crit resistance, not actual resistance to the attack itself... I swear I knew this, bad day Ruisen >.< /End NoobChat

To recap, honor gear reduces damage taken, but you cannot "resist" a pure physical attack. Knight skills, that deal physical light damage, can be resisted because the damage is actually magical. Rogue low blows cannot be resisted, but they can be absorbed.

No damage reduction skills affect dots however. Even knight shield of discipline, with full honor set and Upgrade Defense 8, your bleeds will hit full damage.

I just didn't think that info could be passed to others within a group while I was hidden.
I didn't do any tests, but my guess would be that if the priest had you targeted while you were hidden, then other toons could do this in principle as well; and - you would be visible on the scout's screen (as a target of the target, or a target of the focus, or a target of a pt member).

But it indeed is just guessing - I'd like to see this really happening...

I believe there is a function that informs (and targets for you) whenever you become the target.
I've looked at the list of functions - a lot of them do not have description, but just guessing based on the name what the function might do and looking at all functions containing 'target' in their names - I cannot find anything relevant.

What would it be? Is it some sort of event that we could catch? Does anyone have an example of something like this?

There probably is a function to check if a mob/player is targeting you somewhere. Would have to be done in an addon though. When you have health bars enabled, you can see when somebody has you targeted by the target icon that appears above their health bar, there is probably some way of getting that info from the client and using that to target them.

This doesn't occur very often, but sometimes when I attack an enemy, simple damage log shows that they toke 0 damage, but it doesn't register on the combat log. It doesn't say "immune" or "absorbed" like it usually does when an enemy has mage shield or immune. It just doesn't register like the attack never existed.

My question is this? What script or program are some players using that lags you out completely while you are near them? You say don't cry wolf yet anytime you get near individual players and it's only a select few not all you suddenly are unable to use any skills items etc until you are dead and they have left your immediate vicinity.
Not true you say?
When a player mocks you standing on your dead body and your spamming the rez button and it won't work until they walk away, because of whatever program they are running, there is plenty of truth to it. The GM's need to step in and investigate.

Side note What speed hack lets an opposing guild's player attack your own Castle side towers within 30 seconds of siege Start? not upon entering upon the ability to enter?

Again GMs need to visit some of these sieges and start actually investigating.

feel free to report this post :D Maybe then one of these "Game Masters" will do a part of their job they have been neglecting.

I've had this happen before. I always assumed it was the lag from their skill animations. Because its happened to me from people I've known would not be the type to hack or cheat in siege, and of course, its usually the isolated issue. The people that cause this in 1 siege for me has never caused it for me again. If they were hacking, it'd make sense that they'd do this consistantly.

Some people still have the 30% mount potion. I know people that stocked up enough for several years. I do wonder if it stacks with Destiny Ring ... Just Destiny Ring alone makes you ridiculously fast on a mount.

i only bring it up becuz it happens when facing a certain guild. with certain players in it. Everytime this guild is faced we have a debate on whether or not to even bother attending siege. And then when we actually do go in all you hear in Teamspeak is what they are doing now.

This time Individual players were reported. Yes we got the usual reply Video or it didn't happen. Becuz GOD forbid A GM Actually show up on a siege server and deal with reality firsthand over footage they can push off.

I know a particular guild that does it every siege. I think we're thinking of the same guild. The guild does use speed hack (and admit it), as well as various other things. I haven't seen them register for siege in awhile though, thankfully...

I'd still put my bet on a rogue _without_ a mount:
* you set you graphics to the minimum so that loading of the SW zone takes less time (you can also copy RoM to a ram disk if you have 14+GB ram free etc.)
* you may want to start some of the longer pots/skills just _before_ entering SW
* then fire up the rest while running; the last ones once you are out of the main gate
* jumping down and running out through the doors by the gate can take a tad less time than stopping to click on the gate
Altogether - 30s after the start of a SW seems plenty if a rogue really focuses just on this... I haven't done this myself, but I've heard about other people doing this and it always came accross as 100% legit. (And I'm not saying that if you had some help from external tools you could not do this in a "simpler" way :( - all I'm saying is if the first thing you see after joining SW is a msg about someone taking over Hilot - it does not have to imply cheating).

PS: Just wondering: I haven't tried it at SW but in other situations if you change zones (e.g. use snoop) while running, you start running in the new zone already before your ui is completely loaded. In SW you always start facing the main gate - if my focus was how fast I could get to the middle towers, I'd try to hit Insert _before_ entering SW, I bet when your ui loads you'll already be by the inner gate.

hilot is mids i said near side castle :D

Doesn't matter guild decided We won't attend sieges against them anymore for now.

Quote made in Teamspeak. " You knew how this guild plays and are, and decided to come anyway. So shut up and quit crying about what they are doing."
