pvp zones

with the server mergers last year I was under the impression that there are no longer pvp servers. does that mean unless you go to siege or battlegrounds that there are no other pvp places?

That is correct, only way to do PvP outside of siege war or the 1v1, 3v3, 6v6, karros canyon, AA, tyfren ect... area. In Taborea zone, only way to do pvp is a duel, both people flag 'PK mode on", or a guild performs a 'guild battle' on another guild. (Which imo should be done more often out of fun as it is currently never used.)

I've always believed that RW should make a cross-server map w/ boss-type mobs that didn't aggro, gave decent xp/tp and dropped mats for high level gear ( explained further down ).

here's the rub:

1. Players from the same server are friendlies.
2. Players from other servers are enemies.
3. There will be a base per server with high level npc's
3a. Guards
3b. Vendors
3c. XP/TP debt removal npc ( gold sink )

Your real enemies are the players from the other servers. If they can overwhelm the guards and npcs, they can attack your base. Pretty much there will be no absolute safety.

1. When you kill someone from another server, you get a stackable 5 minute buff that increases xp/tp/drops from mobs.
2. When you die, you lose your stackable buff.
3. When you die, you gain xp/tp debt like in an instance
4. When you die, there is a chance to drop a piece of equipped gear. That piece will remain on the ground for 10 minutes until someone picks it up. ( unless it is locked from dropping )


Materials to turn in to vendors to make gear, like HoE. & the ability to grind XP/TP at a much faster rate than questing.

Basically, a real war torn zone where you have to stay on your toes.

Sounds a lot like the rules for the old pvp servers with minor modifications. Remember the pvp servers were empty and failed. Which is why they are no more. Now that it costs hundreds or even thousands of real world money for some pieces of gear and to lose one in a battle means no one would ever fight. Also no one wants to fight in poor gear when they have far better gear. That is one reason the pvp servers died. The game got far too expensive to risk anything in pvp with the current cost in tp for high level skills no one is ever going to risk the death penalty in pvp. If it was just an xp penalty it would stand a better chance.
