Strat for Vale of Rites

So I went in the instance for the first time... seemed pretty cool. I have some preliminary findings that I will list to help others and hopefully others will help too.

best thing about the instance, most mobs can be aggro'd separately.

1st Boss:

This is actually 3 bosses. Need to kill all 3 around the same time for they will rez up after 30 sec I think. Once the fight starts and you start working on bosses, 2 of them ports to the pads and don't move or attack you directly (can still attack them, think they get lower dmg though). they will cast aoe's and stuff on the boss in the middle. the boss in the middle rotate between the 3 and after all 3 have been in the middle all 3 comes out for a few secs and the process repeats.
1 of the bosses have a buff that stacks to 10, once it reaches 10 it does a pretty good amount of aoe, I think it can be avoided by moving away from it.
another has the buff that it receives less dmg if it is near any of the other bosses.
I didn't check what the last boss buff is.
Things that I think is a good idea is to spread out and watch for aoe's. specially where one of the bosses when on a pad throws out a line of balls that does a good dot if u stay in it. Staggered burns on different bosses would be best.
other than that I didn't notice anything special.

2nd Boss:

3 main things to watch out for:
1) it will call out a person and say watch your step, if that person move in 10 secs after being called out, massive aoe around that person to all party members (no dmg on the person I think)
2) it will all out a person and say lets see who you abhor, massive aoe around that person after 10sec to any other party member near him.
3) it gives a choice between 2 colors, you need to look at the huge ball in the boss's hand to find out which color to choose. choosing the correct color gives you no aoe dmg, choosing it wrong give 99% I think. this happens 3 or 4 times during the fight and when it happens boss is immune to dmg.

3rd boss:

Didn't notice anything special, was burnable

4th boss:

3 things for this boss too:

1) boss spawns a white tiny crystal so imaginatively named crystal, if ur in 50 range of it, it does a continuous dot. can kill it pretty easily.
2) boss likes to show you nightmares pretty often, basically it will call out a person and say see your nightmares, which will give u a BUFF fear (strange it isn't a debuff), causing you to run around like a chicken with it head cut off. at the end of the fear there is a little dmg (aoe I think).
3) every 20% boss likes to disappear and spawn 3 red crystals called illusion crystals. they have a buff that massively reduce dmg received. we were only able to respawn the boss by either killing all the illusion crystals or just 1 of them. took sooo long, good thing we had a p/m to let us recover mp. would be nice if someone knows a good way to either kill the illusion crystals faster or somehow get the boss to spawn without killing them. I did notice dots were doing pretty much as good as other single target dmg.
another thing to note: if everyone runs back to the gate, can get the boss to reset.

edit: ok found the strat for 4th boss crystals. need to spawn 2 of the white crystals called crystals near each other, than 1 person has to stand near both in such a way to get hit by both. This will make that person get a debuff that says something to the effect of crystal resonance blah blah blah. once you have that buff kill all the white crystals so u don't get dot'd to death. so with the debuff on, go to each of the illusion crystals (big red ones) and stay on it for 2-3 sec, the right crystal will lose the err yellow? circle underneath it.

the only thing to note is that while ur waiting on the 2 white crystals to spawn together, make sure some1 is hitting the illusion crystals any way or otherwise the boss resets.

5th boss:

pretty ugly. also burnable. all the casts it does are interruptable. one thing it does is a dot, one is aoe fear around the boss, one is calling immune mobs to attack u (think u can kite the mobs), another is a channel attack skill and one is to slow u down.

so any ideas to find out what color to choose on the 2nd boss and how to respawn the 4th boss quickly?

i think boss 2 has a bubble around him with the color of where u need to be at.

also, i believe the cast it does is bugged...its supposed to say the color of where u go in the actual cast it self. Think I read if somewhere on the EU forums. don't quote me though

boss 4, I have experienced the same thing. boss will respawn from killing 1, or from killing 3. I'm not sure, maybe the crystals have a certain buff that denotes which to kill. My experience, i just killed the little crystals that spawn and the fight can last so long.

Crystals each have same buff. I guess there is a way to know which one works though because in hardmode the enrage timer is 8minutes, and to be expected to kill 3 crystals in time wouldn't be possible(this happened to Germans a few times and boss raged)

Just to add a few things, for second boss it will deal dmg to yourself if you move with the debuff that tells you to watch your step.

For 3rd boss it does 3 different debuff effects, Death/Frost/Flame, death causes immediate death after 1.5 minutes, frost causes 1% every 3 seconds for 1.3 min, flame causes 9-10% dmg every second for what seems like 10seconds, however the debuff remains also for 1.5min.

Each of these debuffs seems to be able to overwrite eachother and only are applied to party members within range of the boss (seems to be around a 150 range) There is also a 150 range knockdown. (aoe knockdown seems to do no additional dmg)

As for the fear on Forth, you get called and have a few seconds to run away, do so, because if you are feared into another player they also become feared, and when the fear ends, each player who is feared with do decent AoE dmg around them. Unsure if it is def based or % based dmg.

I know there is someway to get the 4th boss out faster, we were able to get it out WITHOUT killing the illusion crystals... unfortunately don't know how it happened...

That'd be rather interesting .... because you certainly need to kill the right crystal. :D

FInding that one is possible though.


As for boss 2 as mentioned earlier, it's that the text change of the cast hasnt been imported in time. It still says <bla> instead of <color> <bla>.

boss 2 "Deathly Mistrust" seems to be hit or miss... 2 people on the same color pad, 1 dies and 1 doesn't get dmg'd :/

and we made boss 5 run away! it went invis without dieing and kept sending mobs to attack us. think we might have burned it too fast (2 m/wd, 1 m/w, wl/ch and wd/s without chiron burning).

hmmm... it gives us a choice of 2 colors something to the effect of saying "Guess what color is it: Blue or Green". I think that part is correct, they want us to check the color of the ball it's holding and decide which color it is and to help, they give us 2 choice.

@boss5: yeah that happens and it also mentioned in the Known Issues post, although the description there is for hardmode since it was first noticed there. But I guess the same applies relatively to the bosses HP on easy and normal with less players.

Formation: Hammer

This phase is tricky and have a question about the giant AoE that spans the room. Thought it had to do with who has aggro on Hopewrecker, we had, at one point, the tank be able to face the aoe in a certain direction, but most of the time it just seems random where it shoots.

Anyone can share idea?

when we did it we just spread and ran away from the line of white balls, they seem to always spawn at the same place for a given hammer formation after the first one you just remember where they go and avoid that spot.

those line of balls focuses on 1 person only, my guess is the highest dps, but it would change targets once it started that phase. my advice is to find out who that person is and have him run around away from other ppl

Anyone know what menacing claw on 4th is? Most of the time its just a frontal, but sometimes it also hits people behind the boss. Hits me for anywhere from 60k - 180k

We though it was a frontal at first but it seems like it can also hit behind. it is pdef based so with 1-2 pieces of thank gear you should survive it. As a warrior/warden i can live through it with grassland and unicorn in full dps gear. other strategy to avoid getting hit include dpsing the boss from the side (not behind) but it doesn't seem to be fool proof either. Sorry i can't help you more then that.

Oh ok, thanks. Damn, seems like going to be pretty hard for R/M then, I wasnt able to survive it without like 120k Pdef.
