Hello Runes of Magic Community,
Recently we see an increase in a new form of scam activity which will lead to account suspensions and we would like to inform and warn you about this form of scam.
Please do not accept high amounts of gold out of ingame-mails without knowledge about the origins of the gold. As example, if you wish to trade with another player or recently started playing and joined a guild and are offered help in form of gold to get started, and the player offering the gold informs you that he has to send the gold from another character then the one you are agreeing with on the deal: please do not accept such an offer, leave the mail untouched and inform our support staff about it.
If a player tells you he has to send you the gold not from the character you are dealing with but from an alternate char, there is a chance he will buy the gold from a goldseller and have them send the gold to you via ingame-mail instead of to him.
As soon as you take the gold out of the mail, you have received illegitimate gold from a goldseller source and will be flagged as a goldbuyer, leading to consequences such as removal of the gold in question and suspension of your account.
Please always only accept gold when you know the reason it has been sent to you for, and only accept gold from characters you are agreeing on the deal with.
Please keep in mind our
Terms of Service, section 10.4:
10.4 The USER is explicitly prohibited from selling, acquiring, renting, hiring, accepting, disseminating, duplicating, or otherwise offering items, virtual currency, or other game items within and/or outside the online game to third parties in any form, unless this is explicitly permitted in individual cases according to the terms and conditions of use of the individual items, or if the service received in return for the item is in the form of another item, game items, or virtual currency. If virtual currency, items, and/or other game items are traded or exchanged in large quantities without an equivalent value being provided in return within the online game it will be assumed that a breach of fig. 10.4 has taken place. The USER retains the right to provide evidence to the contrary.
