[Statement] Stay Clean, Do Not Cheat

Dear RoMmunity,

For certain reasons we’d like to remind you of the following:

The use of Exploits, Hacks and Cheats are infringements of our terms and conditions and will leave you and those involved in the following situation:

• Your account will be banned.
• Your guild will lose you as a DD, Healer or Tank.
• Your friends all across Taborea will wonder where you are.

Before you consider using possible ways to cheat or exploit ask yourself if the risks above are worth it. Whilst you might think initially you gain a nice advantage, e.g. a large amount of gold, in the long run you are harming your existence in Runes of Magic. Your possibly long time played character will never again see the beauty of Runes of Magic. In our opinion, that is quite a shame.

Duping (duplicating) items within a game ruins the ingame economy which you as a community worked so hard to build up. The use of such mechanics risk major class balancing & ingame economy issues. All of this just for the momentary profit of virtual money.

Worst case scenario could be that we’re forced to temporarily deactivate certain functions within the game to surpress the damage the use of such exploits causes.

While we’re working hard on solutions to address any such loopholes, you as part of our honored community can help as well. Please contact our support immediately should you notice someone using an exploit such as duplicating items.

Some of you may have noticed a video on our forums, addressing a way how to duplicate runes in-game. As both the posting of such videos and the use of mentioned exploit violates our terms of conditions, we had the post removed.

Always remember: stay clean!

Silberfuchs & your Runes of Magic Team

Update

Hello everybody,

To address the most frequently asked questions in regard to our efforts in removing any duplicated runes, we’d like to give you an update:

  • Block, Aggression, Advance, Revolution Runes bought within the AH or otherwise:
    • You will keep the runes as long as you bought them in an amount considered “usual”.
    • The Seller will lose the gold

  • Experience, Loot, Reconciliation etc. Runes of a high tier, which were only available through our item shop (tiers III – VII) and those that can’t be built with in-game material VIII, IX and X):
    • Both runes and gold will be removed from buyer and seller

  • If you bought runes within the AH or otherwise which were always present:
    • You should be safe

In case of runes such as curse VIII or those similar, you do not have to worry as our teams are experienced in seeing which of these runes have been built and those that have not.

Should your runes be removed and you’re under the impression that these do not fall into the above categories, please contact our[customer care support]. Please be aware that the response time can vary depending on the amount of ticket numbers and each individual’s request.

What then, does one do, if they had stumbled upon this glitch by accident, before they could make an attempt to report that they had replicated the bug and would like a staff member to remove the item so they do not get reprimanded?

What if the game is SO laggy during certain times that by the virtue of that fact replicating the bug many times was entirely accidental, as long as the person submitted a ticket detailing the incident, would this guarantee them a safe time in which to formally submit a complaint?

Quoted

A player who comes across such an exploit by accident and uses it once unintentionally has nothing to worry about, as long as he or she immediately reports the exploit to the Game Masters. They can be reached through our Support Site at https://support.frogster-online.com/.

The intentional use of an exploit will result in the blocking of the player’s account.

If you find an exploit or bug and not intentionally use it but report it, there is nothing to worry about.

I wish to report that FEU is cheating/exploiting its player base with the high CS prices. If you could plz forward this to the appropriate department, it would be appreciated as banning those behind the price increase in the CS would greatly improve this game.

Raising the prices in the CS ruins the in game economy and thus negatively effects the gaming experience of this player base. Thank you for your time.

Even if said bug caused an item to be duplicated many times, multiple times, Just as long as it was reported? The above quote says "once" frequently this is unavaoidable. I can't count the amount of people who persistently try to move objects to organize their bags and will do so even in the face of utter lag only to log back in and find things ALL screwed up, missing items, duplicated items and all.

You forgot that it does what all capitalist markets do inevitably, promote greed, selfishness, and a desire to do just the opposite of what they're fighting against, duping.

If they are missing items, they should contact our support to receive assistance in getting their losses back as much as possible. If they find items to be duped, they should report it as well and delete the duped items. If I would for example by bug or glitch accidentally dupe my equipment and then go ahead and sell the duped items or give them to other players or keep them for further use, I would exploit and abuse the bug to my personal advantage. That is what would get me in trouble.

So would you recommend against merit pooling and/or trading in general during siege since this is when it plagued my guild the most?

Adittionally, Good answers! It has been some time since I have seen such quick responses on a Runes forum. You Sir (or Ma'am) deserve Kudos. Don't let work get you down, and keep forging on. Frogster needs more GM/Mods such as yourself.

Siege Wars are a bit iffy, as they are still in Beta and not bug-free. A beta is used to find bugs and open issues, so coming across a bug repeatedly while the Beta is ongoing (and that we can rightfully say it is with Siege Wars ;) ) can not really be prevented as long as it is not done on purpose. Merits to my knowledge vanish after an hour or end of the war or relog and can not be traded in AH. It should be reported as a Bug though if that has not happened already.

Generally speaking, if you come across something that might be abused as an exploit by accident, report it and delete any possible items that were duped during the incident. Please do not discuss it with other players, do not give instructions on how to reproduce it to other players for their advantage (thus advertizing the exploit) and do not willingly abuse it yourself for your advantage. If you are unsure if a bug report on forums would not lead to other players abusing the report to exploit, send the report in private message to one of us instead of opening a thread in the bug section or directly contact support with the report.

And thank you for your kind words. :)

So I presume then, since siege will likely indefinitely be BETA, it would be impossible to request replacement of lost merits, sometimes we've lost 10's of thousdand's due to lag? Rarely has one logged back in to find that their amounts doubled or were duped :(

And, Your welcome.

I think replacement of merits is technically not possible, since they vanish. This is one of those issues that need to be fixed after the issue has been verified and found and a fix being programmed. Until such a fix is applied, it is something we as players have to suffer during siege war, unfortunately.

But this is something rather for a bug report then for this exploit statement and discussion. :)

Hmmm my post seems to have gone missing. So when do you plan in doing something about the botters in Inferno Gardens?

It went missing since it was off-topic to the discussion at hand--as the original to this reply will also be going missing.

You might be surprised at the number of actual botters in IG that have also gone missing in the past couple of weeks...

Perhaps now would be a good time to demonstrate some non-specific actions that Runewaker is taking in order to combat cheaters.

Right now there is a tremendous perception amongst the player base that nothing is being done to combat the various forms of game cheaters (people who blatantly exploit bugs or flaws in coding of Siege War, bots, gold buyers/sellers, or people who just blatantly attempt to crack accounts.) SWAG's banhammer posts may not have been dealing with the entire scope of people who buy in-game gold from botters, but it did make some in the community feel as though an attempt was being made to deal with the issue.

Right now, the most we're getting is feedback in the form of automated copy+paste responses and the occasional "we're working on it". While I am not asking you to reveal any specifics about which methods are being used to track down and eliminate cheaters from the game, perhaps showing us the results of the work that is being done would go a long way towards making look less easy- and therefore less tempting- to cheat.

Sorry but it was not off topic. The EXACT title for this thread is DO not cheat. IT my comment was off topic then you are saying Botting is NOT cheating. Please clarify if botting is or is not cheating. Thanks

Hypothetically speaking. Perhaps this same logic could be used to make people who use wanton vulgarity in open chats "go missing" as well. I see far too many people talking about children, religions and sexual things they can do with both seemingly without punishment. Some of these people have been in game for years and are still there, every time I log in. You should have a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for that as well.

The title may be a bit misleading in this case - This thread is for the discussion of Exploits, Hacks and Cheats, and why you should not use them.

Bots are also disallowed, and you can find more information on why here: http://forum.us.runesofmagic.com/showthr…ll=1#post528672

Botting isn't really a "cheat", it is a disallowed client modification, and has more in common with "hacking" - Yet it is distinct from "hacking" as well.

As there are many threads discussing botting, please keep discussions about botting to one of those threads, and leave this one for exploits such as the item duplication mentioned in the original post.

Chat violations such as you have described are also disallowed - If you see it in-game and are offended by it, please put in a support ticket with a screenshot. If you see it on the forums, please use the "Report post" feature.

Please keep this thread on-topic.
