[Statement] Unscheduled Maintenance 4/16/13

Dear RoMmunity

Our servers were down for a 16 hour unscheduled maintenance during yesterday evening (European time).
Here is a brief overview of what happened:


  • We brought Patch 5.0.10 online at 12.30 CEST
  • Around 15.15 CEST some members of the community (thanks!) reported that the Daily Quests reset after re-logging
  • Until 16.30 CEST we knew that we couldn’t do a fix without a downtime
  • At 17.30 CEST we started the unscheduled downtime at EU and extended the downtimes of AU and US
  • For Runewaker this was 23.30 at night
  • We tried some ideas to fix this issue in house, but all of the methods didn’t work in a way where we could bring the game live again
  • Meanwhile Runewaker also worked on figuring out what went wrong
  • At 23.00 CEST the bug was tracked down, but the fixing process continued and we could foresee that it would take at least until 8.00 CEST plus time to apply the fix
  • At 10.08 CEST our QA could confirm that everything is working as intended and we started to bring back live all servers from


We are aware that many of you “lost” time in the wonderful world of Taborea and want to apologize.
From Friday, 04.00 PM PDT to Saturday, 11.59 PM PDT we’ll give you +100% TP bonus for killing mobs.
In addition, all players will receive two (2) daily quest reset tickets.

For those players who exploited the bug against better knowledge we’ve opened three categories:
  • Minor abuse: Warning
  • Abuse: 7 Day Ban
  • Major Abuse: 30 Day Ban

We’d like to thank all the honest players that did not use the bug to their advantage and especially those who reported it.

Whoo Hoo!

Just downloaded the patch and I'm gonna log in(down, RoM Jones, down I say!).

VERY VERY EXCITED about the posted fix to Magic Cavies--now we can get mature pet eggses everywhere (at randomn, of course)!

This is HUGE!!!! This is GREAT!!!! (I hope this is true!)

I really appreciate the real improvements to stability and the actual real bug fixes we have been seeing in the last couple of patches. Please keep up the good work.

If you do, I TOTALLY forgive you for a little delay (and a much-needed reality break for some of us) in getting the next patch up.

Gaming is hard work! We appreciate your work.

Thanks for a detailed report on what happened system-wide, yesterday. I'm glad I WASN'T one of those Bug/Exploit Abusing players. They deserve whatever punishment they get. Now, when can I expect my 2 Daily Reset Tickets to become available for my use? Or do I need to file a Ticket with your Tech Support Department to qualify?

THIS is what customer care is all about. Good communication, revelation of the facts, clear outline of punishment for infringers, restitution for those of us that couldn't play during downtime (I feel much less bad about not being able to play all day on April 16th, the day after tax season and my first day off in 4 months)

WELL DONE METATAG, and WELL DONE Gameforge/Frogster/Whoever is running this game now.

1- Where/when do we "get" the daily reset tickets? Is it per account/character?

2- The abuse section isn't really relevant to the US servers at all considering our login was never up. Hopefully that is taken into consideration before gameforge starts imposing bans based on whatever findings they bring back
A real sysadmin knows how to change the time.
If you make the same mistake while trying to make up for the previous one, you are doing something wrong.

As much as I'd love to say I offer consulting services, the scope of things broken is too large.

Of course, now that me hast had timer ta read thru all the nonesense on the forums, a couple o questions bout those reset tickets..... Do we get two per account? Toon? Be they codes in the email, our mailbox? Hopefully they doth show their flags sooner than the PROMISED resets that never showed at the dock fer resetin me password. Dissappointed there.
