Weekend Warriors

So I'd just like to post my thoughts on the weekend promotions we have. As a (way less now, but) frequent diamond buyer, I feel I have a pretty good grasp on the sales prices and what items we're being offered. Others might disagree with that opinion but well..that's your opinion lol. Anyways, feel free to discuss:

First off let me start by saying we desperately need more variety on weekend promotions. It has gotten to the point where I can guess with about 90% accuracy which weekend promotion we're gonna get because we have the same. exact. rotating cycle of sales that we've had for a loooooooonngggg time. It's not my business how much the sales team makes, however, they haven't had much of a creative thought on weekend promos in quite some time. The way successful businesses STAY in business if by (one of many things) keeping consumers interested with variety and that "something new"

Now here's a breakdown of my thoughts on the rotating cycle of sales we have over and over and over and over and over again:

1.) Most Wanted- Let's just start with my favorite weekend sales gripe..I don't know if there was a survey run 4+ years ago and you guys asked a bunch of random people to pick a few items at random or what, but the items in the Most Wanted promotion, from at least 95% of the people I've asked, are in fact, NOT items they "Most Want." If the sales team plans to keep running that same "Most Wanted" promotion, I think it's high time we got a refresher and were asked exactly what items we "Most Want" Yes? Ok. Moving along.

2.) Infernal Trio- This sale was more or less great when the items weren't permanently in the item shop, and even now it's still an alright sale because the discount on them is nice. If I could give my continued critique on this sale, it would be to just spice it up a bit and add another item or two in the mix on sale, or something crazy like a costume here or there. By now, we all pretty much know the Infernal Trio means RAE's, EAP's and ABL's on sale. But put an "in addition to" or something in there would ya?

3.) Purified Times- I don't really have much of a gripe with this sale. Everyone likes puris at a cheaper price, and I come from the days when puris were 39 diamonds a piece, so when I came back a year ago to the standard pricing of 19 diamonds, I was beside myself. And then when we get them at half that price, I really get happy. That combined with the charge sale of less than a diamond per charge is a very nice combo. I feel puris at that discounted price are pretty fair and I don't think lowering it anymore would be wise. Would I like lower puris? Sure, what paying customer wouldn't want more for less, but the standard for tiering will be raised and I'm a gearing elitist as it is, I don't want to make T10 gear lol. So this is a good sale, keep it going, well done etc etc

4.) Arcane Runic Might- As I stated in a previous thread, I feel the price for runes are a little off balance, but again, I'm an elitist when it comes to gearing, and while the best is certainly not necessary, it is desired. So having to spend over 63,000 diamonds (yes I did the math) to get 3 out of the 4 runes on my gear from Tier 9 to Tier 10 runes, is a bit extreme. So my suggestion for this weekend promotion: either lower the price per rune for this weekend sale when it comes around, OR keep the same sales price, and start us at a tier higher. So for example, start us at Tier 8 runes on sale instead of Tier 7, etc. Also as a side note, as a dps class, I feel the price for Recons are INSANE. I guess at one point they were a lot cheaper to make and they are at the price GF believes they should be at now or something? Idk. I guess I was either not around when they were allegedly cheaper, or I'm dumb and I just never saw them that cheap, but I feel that ONE Reconciliation rune ON SALE at 274 diamonds per Tier 7? Not acceptable in my opinion. I have heard all the arguments from the community and the GF team as to WHY they are price the way they are, but I still don't approve. My suggestion for Recon runes is the same as my suggestion for other runes. Either lower the cost per Recon rune, or start us off at a tier higher (Tier 8) Ok? Ok. Next.

5.) Arcane Gashas- Ok, here's the "problem child" sale where everyone will have a varied opinion, to which everyone is definitely entitled to, but here's mine, and I may lose you all right here lol: I think for this weekend promotion it's about time we just put +20 jewels in the gashas instead of +16's. We've had +16's permanently in the item shop for a good amount of time now, and while GF has pretty much slowly and delicately tried to wean us on to +20 jewels by putting them in events and trying to sell us on them in the Wheel of (Mis)fortune, I think it's about time to just full out sell them to us. No you don't have to put them in the item shop permanently. BUT I do think it's time to just come out and "release" them officially in a sale. While I would PREFER you just sell me the +20 gems as individual pieces, I'd be willing to give +20 gem Gashas a try. I have said my piece on my thoughts to having them in the Wheel of (Mis)fortune, and this is not a thread for me to voice my thoughts on that again. BUT, I think for this weeked promotion, when it comes around next, should include +20 gems instead of +16 gems. Just go ahead and do it. They're already out there randomly, they're not going away, so just stop hiding them in the shadows and bring them to light in an official sale.

These are about the only weekend sales I can think of that we get in a regular rotation. It's always the same cookie cutter sales, and without even seeing what the sales consist of, by just reading the name of the promotion, we all know what it is. I think I can speak for a good majority of us in the community when I say, that kind of repetition is not good for business or morale. We want something new. Heck, we want promotions that are NEW new. Some suggestions:

A.) Costumes- We in game fashionistas love em. We love them, we want them, we gotta have em. When I left and came back, The Magic Wardrobe was introduced. For me (and for others like me) it was a game changers. I change my in game outfit at least once a week, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who does this or something similar. We in game fashionistas will GLADLY pay for outfits. I wasn't here when they got rid of the ruby costumes, so idk what that whole deal was, but I miss those outfits, and even if they were offered as diamond promotions once a month or once in awhile, I'd be quite happy with that, and I know a good portion of the community who would too.

B.) Housing Items- Here we go. Boss Furniture, Housing Contracts, Seasonal Furniture, House Energy Orb sales, you name it! While I don't necessarily need any of these things, I know a good many people who would pay good diamonds for these housing items. Get creative with it sales team. It's a great idea and you know it. Pricing on said items? Well idk, I came up with the idea, now you market it lol. But I think most would agree with me that a good housing item sale here and there would breathe a little light back into the promotions

C.) Plussing Gems- I won't go all out into another paragraph about it, but I (and a few others) think having +20 gems on sale either as a singular item, or in actual gashas would be awesome. I know I would pay GOOD diamonds for them individually, and I'd pay a fair price for them for the chance at an actual gasha. Moving on.

D.) Transformation Pots- Idk about the rest of you classes, but we mages LOVE. POWAH. And we especially look forward to this time of year, because its the ONE TIME A YEAR they sell transformation pots (for me, Donichuka INT % Pots). I think you guys in the sales department would do well to offer these more than once a year. I'd buy them often enough, and I know others would stock up on them too. So just think about it, at least double your usual promotion and do it twice a year eh?

Some closing statements:

The overall theme of this thread is to mix it up GF. We're tired of the same sales over and over again and we want something new. Heck, spruce up your ideas on Happy Hour sales too. I see the same few items offered as Happy Hour items. There are HUNDREDS of items in the item shop, you don't have to be so linear with what you offer for Happy Hour promotions.

While I also feel this way about Wednesday Specials, you guys do tend to mix that up a bit from time to time. Do I think it could be more? Absolutely. The tier stone sales, random costume sales here and there, magical instruments from time to time, its all nice to see, but we would just like to see it more often.

I apologize for this being such a long thread. I feel I was pretty unbiased on my opinions on each item on the agenda, and I look forward to seeing some feedback from the Community as a whole, as well as the GM's and CM.

Thanks

Couple things:

First and foremost I find it refreshing to see a post that attempts to look at the issue more holistically rather than the typical more self-indulgent posts and I applaud you for attempting to generate a discussion on this. So far, you have made some good points about a topic that is genuinely worth discussing and I sincerely hope it doesn't degrade to another QQ fest that gets closed when it goes too far off topic.

That said, IMO I think your logic is flawed if in any way you believe this will have any effect on the sales items and promotions. The forum is riddled with suggestions that have fallen on deaf ears for years. Moreover, the bigger issue here is the consumer - not the seller. A lot of people like to post how GF could make more money one way or another but the simple answer is they ARE making money. They are making money because despite consumers not being entirely happy with the sales they offer they are still spending money on diamonds and injecting money into the game every time there’s a sale. We don’t even need to see their sales numbers to know this because it is as simple as this: If nobody bought these items they would stop selling them and try selling something else instead. The short answer is until the community comes together and votes these sales out with our wallets I’m very doubtful anything will change.

I hope I am wrong about the sales team. I really hope that this post generates some really good points and that it has an impact.
I guess only time will tell. :)

Oh, look....Weekend sale of Most wanted (again).. My question is, Most wanted by whom? Since they seem to have this sale every 3 weeks, doesn't GF realize we already have stacks of these items? Did they recycle it (again) because an employee or volunteer at GF or Runewaker forgot to stock up the last 75 times we had this sale? IMHO and the opinions of MANY others, this sale is no longer "most wanted", but has now become "least wanted". If you are gonna run it every other weekend, at least change the title (please). A suggestion for the new title could be "Craptastic sale of items you have probably got stacks of" or maybe "Recycled Refuse Sale". Thank you and have a nice day. (Flame on says Johnny)

I think the sale "Most Wanted" is great for them to do on a double xp week/end. That sale does have Daily Reset Tickets in there right for those that wish to spend the money will make leveling very simple during this event.

I do wish we would get some different sales as well but hey last weekend they put Rune Disk mount on sale so they do change a few items on occasion or maybe it is as stated just part of the sales cycle. But I can not recall the last time they sold the Rune Disk Mount.

I just hope they drop a diamond sale on us this weekend as well, hopeful but doubtful but who knows they are giving us like 7mill xp orbs for free this week, then adding in the double xp event is pretty decent of them imo. Hopefully it gets some people to jump back on this weekend.

I also would really like to see new sales dealing with furniture and costumes. I also wish they would add the crafting sale ( one with the 100% production pots) into the rotation of recycled sales.

And here is my two cents about the recycled sales that happen, if I am not mistaken all they sales excluding the Rune sale are all consumable items right? So consumable items are the best type of rotation sales and ones I think many of us appreciate ( Puri Sales ) and the reason I think they run in such a predictable fashion.

Another view which may not be thought of is the fact that many people ( me being one of them ) like predictability it allows us to sorta plan and follow thru with our plans. It allows for the community to also take advantage of diamond sales by having a good idea of what type of sales items will be on the way.

My biggest issue with the sales is they cut out ruby bonuses

Happy Double xp Weekend all.

Or if they were creative they could come out with a sale using some of the things i included, and then as a BONUS have reset tickets on sale too for double xp we're having this week.

Or hell, put reset tickets on sale for Sunday's happy hour and give us a creative weekend sale

See what i mean? There's ways to go about it and not be so terrible and lazy at their job about it.

Sigh.. oh well. This is weekend number 5 for me not needing/wanting/even desiring in the least bit to spend any money whatsoever with you, GF.

Well another weekend is here and unfortunately another copy and paste sale we've had once every roughly 5 weeks again.

Very dull and boring GF. Still nothing desirable with this sale, still not a dime of my money spent. You have basically, again unfortunately, lost me as a paying customer.

Maybe around xmas if you do your once a year donichuka pots sale ull get a few of the diamonds i already have stocked up from a month and a half ago

Well they had drt on sale 2 weeks ago, as well as XP orbs etc, everytime that happens, we get a 2X XP/TP drop rate weekend. Since you were so inclined on making a list of the sales, you should also have taken notice of when the event weekends happen attached to previous sales.

Ya sales are rinse and repeat, but you have to agree that the Halloween sale items are diverse and fun. I also want the Gingerbread man trasformation pots, but i know they only come around at Christmas, as they always do each year.

Some people stack their diamonds and purchase what they need when the right sale comes along. A lot of people sell all their diamonds for gold in world chat and keep none. I try to keep 1000 diamonds at all time and making sure i can get what i want, when a sales pops up ;-).

I very rarely agree with you, but yes, even though I don't need mounts the 65% speed or novelty pet eggs, I will agree with you that it was different than the norm, however a sale like that was expected as it was a holiday. Just like we expect our once a year xmas sale stuff.

and yea i stock up my diamonds too. I've got 8220 diamonds exactly saved up from the last time i purchased about 6 weeks ago or so. While I personally havent needed or wanted any of the copy paste sales for the past month and a half (and ongoing even long before that) i can understand how 2 weeks ago people might have enjoyed the "most wanted" sale

So here's to hoping we see an "original" sale this weekend starting tomorrow.

If I were a betting man I'd say this weekend will either be "Purified Times" or "infernal Trio."

I'd put my money on "Purified Times" though.

The sales were programed into a computer years ago and remain unchanged. On many threads the schedules have been discussed and asked to be changed, It hasn't happened. Just get use to the schedule and you will know when things will come up. You will also realize that many of the items that were requested to be put on sale never were. The items that are the most requested are put into packages that make them far too expensive, like the back pack page 3 which was finally put on sale but came attacked to a dragon mount and other items that made it prohibitively expensive.

Friday, November 7th 2014, 3:29pm

Lol well, I called it correctly.

Purified Times it is.

It'd be a shame if that's how the weekend sales work, if they're just programmed in a computer to cycle through endlessly over and over again..

That would be very lazy.

I'll say this (and I know Testsubject is leaving now but idk why because) being Shop Content Manager for GF is very clearly, literally the easiest do nothing job there is.

Oh well.. another week, another dollar saved not spent on RoM.

Well we've had 50% ABL = 50 diamonds each is pretty good and now RAE at 39 was nice too ;-) they have to keep at this and do it every weekend and no pet food special EVER AGAIN. It's pointless with all the golden eggs we got and miller's cake works fine and in game gold.

But we already have a sale dedicated to cheap RAE's in the sale "Infernal Trio."

So while it's great and all we've had them on sale in a weekend long Happy Hour, its now that time in the 5 sale cycle where I'd now put my money on "Infernal Trio" being next weekend's sale.

So I'll reiterate again.. there are hundreds of items that can be used for sales and Happy Hours.. so why be so boring and repetitive by offering the same item on sale multiple times a week?

I'd guess that its because most of the people in charge of sales don't stay long enough. By the time they figure things out, they're packing their bags and going to their next jobs. Then we get the next clueless guy come in and repeat the cycle.

My feedback (since you so nicely asked, I appreciate that) regarding this is simple: We are always forwarding your concerns regarding the shop to the appropriate people within the Runes of Magic Team. This is why we set up this exact forum section - so we can easily sort through, collect, organize and forward these concerns to those appropriate people. As we as GM's don't have any sort of power over the item shop, this is the best we can do. Your concerns ARE forwarded to the sales team as the GM's play the game too, some of us buy diamonds and buy things in the item shop, and most of the time we have the exact same concerns. :)

Fallen Dynasty +10 % Experience Value Rate

Trump Thug +80 Stamina

Heart of the Lion King +60 Strength

Paragon Spokesperson +10 % Drop Rate

Also we've had this sale a few times before, though it is nice for new players who may need one of these titles.

I was gonna say they have this sale often in their Wednesday Special rotation.

Not only do they have this "Who Are You?" Wednesday Special at least once a month, but its always the same 4 titles every single time.

I know from past experience (From years ago) that there are many other titles to use in this sale.

So why is it the same 4 titles every single time this sale runs?

I'm sure no one will be able to tell us why.

I'm gonna see if I can go 2/2 and I'm gonna guess that tomorrow's weekend sale will be Infernal Trio.

I would love a new sale, naturally. However I have a strong feeling it'll be one of our usual recycled / rotating sales, and I have an even stronger feeling it'll be Infernal Trio.

Here's to hoping I'm wrong and we get something new.
