(QUEST) Narfas' Treasure Hunt - Logar

Refer people who refuse to use google or I dunno...check the game forums (that would be crazy) to this
easy link in zone chat for a direct link to this forum thread:

www.tinyurl.com/romtreasure

For Part 2 (don't confuse with Stage 2) go here:
http://us-forum.runesofmagic.com/showthread.php?t=2979

*I'm currently playing as Phailadin and Korgoth on Artemis server (retired Rayna).
Whisper me if you need help!*

Everyone seems to have questions about Narfas' treasure hunt quest.
Even I did so I wrote this as I went along. So instead of holding everyone's hand
and explaining the wonders of World Search every 2 minutes to someone
you can just slap them with your main hand and tell em to read this! :P

So here's what to do:
It helps if you have a horse to speed things up.

Notes:
*At any time, if someone takes a Mysterious Mound or other quest item you need
and it disappears wait a few seconds. It will reappear again.

*Do not get rid of the Kraft Paper Narfas gives you. It might possibly break the quest.

To start the Treasure Hunt quest talk to Narfas. (Logar 50.8, 42.9)
Your first quest will be to get instructions from her.
Open up chat and talk to her again. If you miss this (like I did the first time) you won't be able to start the Treasure Hunt.

Once you have done that press L (default) to bring up your quest log menu.

Click on available quests.

Click on NPC Search, leave the search box blank and hit search.

You should see a long list of npc's, monsters, and items.
Scroll down until you find 'Mysterious Mound'. There are 5.
Double-click all of them to activate map arrows.

Hitting (M) for Map will show you the locations marked on your map.

If you're getting attacked by enemies they will interrupt you while
you're trying to retrieve the mounds.

Note: XP, Gold, and TP Rewards have not been listed below, only Item rewards are annotated.

PART I:

Stage 1:
Narfas gives you Kraft Paper with hints written on it. Don't discard it!
First follow the Yellow Arrow to Hidden Valley Mine.
(Hidden Valley Mines 43.5, 93.4)
Open the Mysterious Mound.
Go back to Narfas.
Reward: Treasure Hunter's Cape (bound), Narfa's Kraft Paper (don't discard)

Stage 2:
Follow the orange arrow to Moongorge cave.
(Moongorge 74.8, 35.5)
Open the Mysterious Mound. You'll receive Locked Box.
Find Uncle Pumpkinhead to open it.
This is actually the NPC named Justin, standing near the entrance of Moongorge
between two guards. Talk to him to open the box.
(Moon Hills 60.8, 35.2)
He gives you the quest 'Key Making' to help you open the box.
You will have to collect 12 Newt Saliva from the Newts nearby.
They may not always drop Saliva.
Then go to Ms. Helen's Farm (Map) and talk to Ms. Marian to get Special Oil.
(Howling Mountains 59.9, 65.1)
You then need to go to Pioneer's Mine (Map) and get 2 abandoned Ore Piles.
Then go back to Justin (Uncle Pumpkinhead) at Moon Hills.
He gives you unlocked box.
Right click it in your inventory to open it and receive doll.
Then Justin will give you another quest, Spring Water from Moongorge.
Go behind and above the entrance of Moongorge cave where you'll find a
large pool. Enter the pool and your quest should update to having received
the spring water. Now take the spring water and the Doll back to Narfas.
Reward:
Narfas' Earring or Children's Metal Ring, Narfas' Kraft Paper

Stage 3:
Narfas gives you Healing Water. Take it to Shalin first.
(Howling Mountains 32.0, 36.7)

Now follow the Green Arrow to Dead Tree Cave.
Retrieve the Mysterious Mound at (Dead Tree Cave 11.3, 47.5)
Go back and talk to Narfas.

Reward:
Narfas' Kraft Paper
Silk Hunter's Bow OR Narfas' Necklace OR Necklace of the Dead Tree Energy

She gives you the quest Water Dragon - Zanordoth
Go back to the Moongorge and enter the pool then click on the water.
(Howling Mountains 66.1, 31.3)
Go back to Narfas.

Stage 4:
Next go to the Barren Caves and take the Mysterious Mound at:
Barren Caves (18.4, 11.3) inside the Barren Caves.
Anglie an elite Boss spawns here about every 5-10 minutes.
I solo'd Anglie as a 16/14 Knight/Priest. However, lower level players
and non kni/war class will get slaughtered without a party.
You won't be able to take the box from the mound while the monsters
are attacking you.
You get Narfas' Surprise Chest from mound.
Take the chest to Katrina at Howling Mountains (41.8, 30.5)
Talk to Katrina.
Go back to Narfas and talk to complete the quest.
Reward:
Narfas' Treasure Map

Right click the Treasure Map to open it.

Treasure Map Reads:
First Hint: North of Hidden Valley Mines
Second Hint: West of Moongorge
Third Hint: North East of Dead Tree Cave
Fourth Hint: South East of the Barren Caves
Mystery Numbers: (50.3, 36.6)

Click Accept Quest on the map.

Go to the Coordinates listed on the Treasure Map. Its right behind Logar town.
Click on Mysterious Mound.
Get Narfas Treasure Box.
Right click on Treasure Box in your inventory.

Reward:
Lumberjack's Life
Practice Magic Wand
Light Hunter's Knife

Talk to Narfas.

Accept Secret Agent Quest.

Talk to Narfas again. Use the chat option.

Talk to Narfas again to complete the quest.

Reward:

Narfas Letter

PART II:

The second part of this quest continues here in the Quests-Silverspring board.

My friend is having a problem with this quest:

On stage 3, he gave the water to shalin, and he got narfas' necklace from the cave. However, the quest requires Narfas' Kraft Paper, and we have tried everything to get this item. Where can we find it?

p.s. we tried:
-Talkin to Shalin again
-Talkin to Narfas
-Getting the mysterious mound again
-Dropping the Quest and re-accepting

We think that the Kraft paper was a reward from stage 2, but he deleted it by accident. Can you confirm this?

Narfas gives you kraft paper at Stage 1, which has hints written on it. Everytime you finish a stage she updates it with new clues.

If you totally scrapped the quest paper you might be screwed. Can you abandon the Treasure Hunt altogether?

If not, you'll have to contact a GM and maybe they can reset the whole quest for you.

IMHO, there shouldn't be stuff like this in the game that will break a quest. Also, post on the bug forums perhaps.

Nice guide, but is there any items gained from this quest that are worthwhile?

Sorry, I restarted my character from 13/13 on En-EU to En-US yesterday which is now Kni/Pri 15/5 so I'm pumping myself up before I finish the very last part of the quest, then I'll finish writing up the last bit of this quest info today.

The last part is guarded by Anglie, so it's good to have the Anglie quest when you get the treasure. Kill two birds with one stone by doing so~

Great guide. I'm sure it'll help a lot of new people when they get to the quest. Let's just hope they read here before asking questions.

For some suggestions to clean up and polish it:
- Pictures: Images say a hundred words. Maybe translate the guide in a neat-o png/jpg/gif image with colors and stuff. Makes it pleasant to the eyes. 8D
- Typeface: Some parts of the guide need to stick out because they're so important. Put some bold and italics in there to help pop certain key-words out.
- Rewards: I'm sure the rewards are what really drive people to do it. Going through all that trouble to dig in a pile of dirt for nothing just seems like a waste of time.

Doing this quest leads you into the chain quest: Epic Demon Blade

This is an Epic quest which means it is longer than a chain quest. It's basically part of the story. You do get some nice EXP/Items out of it.

you get a lot of exp and the chain for more quest, even while i didnt consider the items great its fun.

by the way:

1) Narfas will give a multi-choice question in conversation so you can figure it out just talk to her until you do

2) have anyone paid atention to narfas comentaries for every part?, i think the real reason to do the quest, was supposed to be that so you would see the world as she do

3) the 1802 patch notes said they had removed quest related indicators from map search, idk if this is the case but you should check that out

Thank You so much for this! It helps so much.. Being a noob, the Narfas treasure hunt was a little confusing to me, but your guide was super helpful. I am in Varanas on the 2nd part of the hunt now and I am sure your guide will help me to complete it in half the time!:)

way to be helpful . . . the coordinates 50.3, 36.6 are east of logar, but for this quest the location of the treasure is a different 50.3, 36.6 so it has nothing to do with dyslexia or learning to read.

Just wanted to let you know that Narfas has been renamed with the lastest patch. I'm in Logar with my second character, and she's now named "Lola".

Don't know why they changed it, but there you go...

Tuesday, February 3rd 2009, 9:18pm

Just wondering if I am doing something wrong I am at the mysterious mound for the yellow arrow and your post says open the mound. How do I do that I have tried clicking on it , double clicking on it even right clicking on it and nothing any help would be greatly apperciated.

Thanks in advance

Nevermind relized i was at the wrong mound

Wednesday, February 11th 2009, 10:13pm

Hmm...I just accepted the quest from Lola and talked to her and now I'm on Stage 1. However, she does not give you the Kraft paper when you begin like the guide suggests - it only shows up as a reward. Also, I am now inside Hidden Valley Mines at the mound and I have the cog wheel, but it is not letting me click on it at all. Any suggestions?

Edit: After trying again like 5 or 6 abandons, it has now finally decided to work. ><
