cannot establish route to target

this is my second day of play, sorry if this has been asked before, i did check, and found no current threads or solutions....

about 70 percent of the time when i try to 'move to' or auto route wether its a npc or a specific spot on the map, i get

cannot establish route to target

it there a certain trick to it? do i have to be within a certain distance? its abit frustrating :/

im using the slim version download, on vista home.... halps? :o

Yeah. It only works within a certain distance, but I have never seen anything official on what that might be. I use the follow option. Puts an arrow on your mini-map so you know you are going the right direction. Works 90% of the time. Some targets can't be followed because they disappear and spawn in different locations based on your quest progression.

Hope this helps.

The 'Move To' function doesn't work in the chapter 3 & 4 zones for some reason. Sometimes it doesn't work at all because you are too far away from the npc you want to move to and you need to move closer first.

"Backspace" is your friend for quests after level 50, use it well. Remember, it is cast sensitive.

I really don't understand why that functionality is even in the game...seems a bit too...automated, IMO. The follow/arrow function is more than enough...though of course doesn't always work on all the weird NPCs that move around every damn quest LOL

Thank you for the replys... that there is a distance limit is helpful to know, I just track halfway there and then track the rest of the way, helps 70 percent of the time :p

I play lotsss and lotsss of rpgs and the autoroutes functions is One of the most helpful functions, yes, I can use the follow/arrow, but Im using this as a example in varanas the npc is wayyy in the back, and I cant autotrack to it... and as for that arrow, it points north and totally ignores all wall right infront of you > go up thos stairs, turn left DeadEnd > trudge all the way back to the first turn and > your arrow is taunting you North My Man, NORTH to the npc : )

Something else to consider is that opening the specific quest in the Quest Log and clicking on the button marked "Quest Receiver's Position" button--for those quests which have them--will open up the World Search map and display the name of the NPC and his/her location. It's a red dot. You can then choose to Follow to the NPC, which puts that arrow on your character. But noting the location of the NPC and then going there is going to work far better than the "autoroute" function does.

For your Varanas example, use the city's teleport system to get to the destination area more quickly.
