Newbie Pet, is it useful?

yes, this is probably a newbie question... but I have not found the answer yet, I have this cute little flying critter, and its called a "newbie pet" Im level 15 and its level 10, and it doesnt seem to Do Anything > it has healed me acouple times, but I cant check its stats, I cant change its name... the petvideo shows I should be able to....

Is it actually a pet? in my bag is a egg > should I use that instead of the "newbie pet" >

will my "newbie pet" disappear forever

Newbie pet is not like any other kind of pet. It will disappear when you are level 31.

Main thing it does is provide info and Atonement Vouchers that completely clear your XP death debt. You can ask for one every day, so don't forget to do so. They can be very handy.

Other than that, they can heal you, but you are probably best to desummon them as soon as you have your Vouchers.

ahs, tys that it disappears is helpful, means I will be looking for a new pet, to be leveling up that won't disappear ^.^

how do you claim these vouchers?

Just click on the pet to open the dialogue and ask for an Atonement Voucher.

In regards to disappearing him, it's not always best to do so when it's your first time; as he will give you notifications on quests and mobs of your appropriate level, when instances are available, tips on commonly asked questions, and when there are significant events available when you reach certain levels. Also, he will provide you with a defense buff whenever he's with you, as well as giving you an attack buff when you go into combat (sometimes). Lastly, when you fall below 15% health he'll fully heal you, so he does have his uses other than just the atonement vouchers.

I know it's reviving an old thread, but since I'm a player reviving an old account, it seemed appropriate. ;)

So I log in and have a newbie pet following me around, got my voucher and... I guess that's it? Seems you can't rename her (mine looks like a her), can't seem to command her, feed her... I have an egg that doesn't work in the breeder window. Is the newbie pet basically there just to get you used to the idea of pet ownership, now go and buy yourself a real pet?

Thanks!

(And it's good to be back... I forgot just how effective and fun it was to play my little 18/18 Knight/Scout!)

It will heal you when you get low on health, as well as buff you, but the heal is very delayed...so you might be dead before the fairy bothers to start casting a heal. Personally, I just got my daily voucher and then de-summoned it.

The newbie pet is different from egg pets, which have certain skills they will cast at random.

Ok. to get first thing straight, newbie pet does not disappear after lvl 31. i still have it, it just stops giving you vouchers and any other buffs. But it does not disappear.

Second, it only gives you buffs of atk and def, and sometimes heal, other than that its useless,
Its egg stays in your backpack and cannot be put into pet interface.
Unlike other real pets, it does not give you Stamina, Dex, Str, Int, Wisdom buffs
Unlike real pets, it does not have skills that you can raise with tp, such as extra #% defence, atk, hp, drop rate etc.
And it does not enter battle like your other real pets and casts skills on mobs.

Hope this helps...

It certainly does disappear, either you have a bugged pet (I had one for a while when I rerolled a secondary class, and it stayed around for a while even though all my classes were above 31) or all your classes aren't above 31.

Not that it is very important, but still.

Appreciate it, folks. It was just very strange to start up again after a hiatus (well, we had a son... kinda put a damper on free time for a bit, there!) and saw that my character was being followed by a glowing pink/orange fairy. :)

Laying eggs in my backpack... ew...
