How reliable are double seat mounts?

I recently acquired a double-seat mount so that I can transport other toons. In particular, my alt is a frequent user of it, relying on his big sister to get him through dangerous territory.

However, I have very mixed success in actually transporting the alt. It works in maybe 60-70% of the cases. But I have the alt dismounting in random areas along the way, very often when crossing zones. I had what looked to be successful arrival with alt looking at the appropriate destination when mounted, only to find dismount putting him back all the way to the area he mounted. I had falling through ground on dismounting.

Overall, has been rather frustrating experience, yet I dont see complaints about it here on forums. So, what are people doing that I am not doing? Any tricks to a more reliable transportation? Would speed potion wearing out make a difference in success of transport?

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

Transferring across zones has always been buggy, you may want to walk across it to guarantee both characters actually make it across. Check channels and jump often. Sans zone changes, I've never had a problem transporting myself... other people is a different matter, as the passenger tends to die randomly.

I have that happen frequently, but it usually only shows that for one character. When you dismount, you still end up wherever the mount is, not where you appear to have dropped. Anyway, that's my experience.

I run around with two toons using a single mount probably more often than I play a single toon, so I have quite a bit of experience. Yes it's a bit buggy between zones, like BJ already mentioned though, most of the time it appears to the "driver" that the passenger is gone, but from the passenger's perspective they are still there...so when you dismount it'll look like the passenger just ported to where you are.

I've heard the horror stories of deaths but I've NEVER had a death related to this...and I've done probably hundreds of mounted hours with an alt. I'm sure it does happen, but it's gotta be incredibly rare...unless it's lag-related or something.

I created an add-on/macro combo to have a targeted player automatically accept the mount request, which helps alot...though it does inexplicably fail every so often. Overall though I'm very happy with the 2 person mount idea...extremely helpful. :)

Yes, had the same experience, and only fix is to have alt walk across zone border.

Care to share? :)

Can it be tweaked to accept mount and set to follow request sender? (that would help me with dailies a lot)

Yea, I've already got a few requests for it since posting that. Limme clean it up a little bit and I'll post it on curse if it's not a hassle to do so. I typically just write add-ons for myself so I've never submitted anything there before. (Something about making "work" and "play" a little too similar...LOL)

Also, it's not the greatest solution...kind of a hack. Let's just say there's a reason all the auto-accept xyz add-ons work for everything BUT mount invites.

You can read about my hassles, here... http://forum.us.runesofmagic.com/showthread.php?t=63306

Adding an auto-follow shouldn't be a problem, in fact that's something that would help me too, since the two usually go hand-in-hand when I'm questing.
