Can't get RoM to download

Ok so everytime i go to download the game it'll go to like .05 MB or .15 and the last time i tried it went to 6.7MB then stopped. It won't download for some reason. Sad thing is is that I had this game on my computer before but it won't download now.. Anybody out there that can help would be awesome. Thx.

Make sure you're downloading from the official site: here. If you already are, try making sure you have removed all of your old install and try again. Then I'd make sure that you have your firewall turned off for the download and your internet connection is solid. Make sure you're logged in as an administrator (owner of the computer) so you don't get blocked by permission restrictions. Lastly, make sure you have enough room on your HD for the game, as it has grown to nearly 10GB in size. (Full version).

If none of that works, you may need to post your diag so we can get a better look as to what may be causing the issue.

I am downloading fromt he official site, I have removed all old installs, I haven't tried turning my firewall off but I'll try that in a sec, I am on the administrator, and I have tons of hard drive space :P. But I will try turning my firewall off.

Nope didn't work. I turned off my firewall and it went 1% higher then stopped.

Regner, you seen to be one of the people who have problems with the FOG downloader. So, you might try going here: http://forum.us.runesofmagic.com/showthread.php?t=66641 This is a pair of lists for direct file downloads for both the Full and Slim clients. I'd recommend deleting the files you already have. Choose one of the two clients, then download no more than two of the files from the list at a time. This will maximize the file transfer speed.

Ok so I did that and i downloaded every one of the ROMSetup things and got to the last one which is the ROMSetup.exe and when i went into it it said that i needed to switch disks? It told me to browse which folder it would be in. Well I did that but it won't let me click into the folder that all the ROMSetup-1-7.bin are in..

Edit: Got it to work now but errors keep popping up. Still working on it tho.

Edit: I give up, now it keeps saying there are corrupted files.. I'll just wait till after they fix the broken download client thing.

Well I know I said i gave up but I rly want to play this game lol. I tried it again from a clean start and I thought it was installing but about half way though it it said corrupted file again. I clicked ignore just to see if it will play anyways but we'll see. Any idea why it would keep saying there is a corrupted file?

Edit: Nope it didn't work, another corrupted file popped up so i just aborted it. Any idea on how long it'll be before they fix the client download thing?

I"ve downloaded and tested the current installation files, with no corruption problems. It's a good possibility that the corruption is happening on your end.

If you're using a notebook computer with a wireless connection, try using a wired connection instead. Much faster and more reliable.

If that doesn't cure the problem, perhaps a call to your ISP to have them remotely test your modem and lines will help. You may also have to have them make a service call and check things directly at your residence.

No it's a desktop. I use a wired connection. I download games all the time with no problem. I'm thinking i'm just doing it wrong but idk.

Edit: Do you think it may be the browser i'm using? I use google chrome. Would that make a difference?

Got it to work! Patches are going now :D. It was my browser. I used internet explorer and it worked. Thx for all the help. I'll finally be able to enjoy the game :D

Ok so I got it downloaded and patches installed even tho i had to restart the patches three times to get it done. Kept saying it couldn't find the files specified.. But I ended up getting them done. I get in game and wouldn't ya know it, there's another problem.. When i'm running i'm not rly running i'm just standing there. I mean i'm moving but it looks like i'm just standing there. There are no combat animation at all. I mean this is one problem after another. What could be causing this?

I might be able to assist you on this problem. After you got RoM to instal did you defrag your hard drive? I found that regular defragmentation can help clean up RoM (and your computer). One other thing you should do is lower all your video settings to tehir absolute minimum and log in and see if you can move then. RoM is a very video heavy game and some older cards (even some new ones) have trouble keeping up with the demands. Let us know if either of these work or do not work.

Yeah I defragged my computer about three days ago. As far as my graphics card, I bought it about a year and a half ago and it plays wow on med settings so it should be fine. I'm just wondering if it has something to do with the patches when i kept having to restart it because it was saying it couldn't find the files specified. When i restarted it it would start back right where it left off after it messed up.

Hmm Not real sure but try defragging again just to be sure. I found that after every patch it helps me if I defrag my computer. Ill see if I cna find a good mirror for you to try and get the latest version of RoM from. Getting the newest version sometimes fixes a lot of problems. When I find one ill post a link here.

Here is a link to version 4.0 http://www.gameborder.com/files/Runes+of+Magic/

It is several parts so you will ahve to download all of them. Then after that you will run the one that is a exe file.

I'm going to try the first link you gave me. I tried the 2nd one but it said the download was offline. Hope it works tho. Thx for the time in helping me. :D Hopefully this downloads right.

Edit: Got it installed. Everything is working fine now. I'm not sure why it didn't work the first time but w/e. It's working now and that's all the matters lol.
