Quest Help

Ok I've only been playing this game for a few days now and I'm having trouble with a few of the quests. They don't seem to tell you where to go. Is there an outside source for quest help that actually tells you where to go?

There are many ways to see what you need to do and each one does tell you where and what you need.
If you open your Quest Log (L) and then type in the name of who or what NPC you need to fight or talk to, it will give you the option to "FOLLOW" it. Then you click follow and then a colored arrow appears and you follow it!
Another way is to ask in Zone chat and someone will tell you what is needed.

As far as (outside source) is concerned, Runes Of Magic does not support or suggest using them. Although they may be helpfull, bad things can happen and because it is an outside of game code, it is not supported.
As an example, another player installed a third party application that automatically either sold or deleted items in his backpack. He did not set it right or something went badly wrong and he lost everything and did not know it until it was far too late.

There ARE addons for this game, and they work well (at least most of them do). Don't let the fact that some people are morons and don't watch their backpack before they click autosell discourage you. Go to curse.com and get Advanced Quest Book, it will do exactly what you are asking for up until you hit level 55 or so, since it has not been updated in a VERY long time, the newer quests are not in there. But by then you will be able to figure out how to quest on your own, as the high level quest chains are retardedly easy.

Since my last post was edited and one of my points was removed I will try to make that point in a nicer way. There is a section right here on this forum for addons, so while they are not OFFICIALLY supported by Frogster, you are TOTALLY ALLOWED to use them. I just wanted to make that perfectly clear because the "Mentor" that responded to you, and your response to him made it sound like you may think that addons are a no-no here. "Not supported" basically just means that if you do something stupid (i.e. accidentally turning your epic level 70 dagger into a dirty t5 mana stone using Fusion) support is not in any way obligated to return the item you destroyed with your carelessness. But as long as you have at least half a brain, you will be fine.

LOL @ Last edited by Ishkur; Today at 11:01 AM. Reason: edited, bashing mods

@ OP - using add-ons is legal, but for quests you can always use your 'search' option (backspace key on default settings).

For example, many items that you need to do in quest will be searchable, then you can set to 'follow' and from there go where 'follow cursor' takes you.

You can ask in game for help (zone chat) or in guild once you get into one.

Ok thx guys. I appreciate it. Yes I was under the impression that addons were a no no. But I won't worry about it as long as there is something in game that i can use to help me find things for quests. But again thx. :D

Good advice given.
I use this 1-2-3 method.
1. Use the quest log and right-click the blue hyperlink of your goal/target to "follow" would help out with location.
2. Join a guild where other guild members can help you with your questions.
3. Yell out in Zone chat: /z need help on blah blah quest, how do you blah blah.

Have fun in Taborea!

Not saying anything bad about the poster, but I almost completely disagree with this entire statement.

1. The information is not always in the quest text. Sometimes there are conversations between NPCs that you MUST read to get all the required information. Looking in the quest log if you missed something won't help because that dialog WILL NOT be there.

2. Sometimes the information is very unclear or the translation to English is just so bad the point is completely lost.

3. MANY of the required items or NPCs when searched for with "Backspace"(default) or if you right-click and choose follow will give you a result of Requested target cannot be followed or some such nonsense.

I'm sure there are more, but I think those are reason enough. In that case, and this is the one part I agree with, Zone chat is often your best friend. Guild chat may be an even better friend if you are in one.

As far as the player who supposedly had an add-on sell all his gear that is a VERY isolated case if it even happened at all. I read the post from the player and the response from the overwhelming player base that use add-ons every day and love them was that we have no idea how that could happen. Just don't install one that sells gear(probably extremely hard to find anyway) if this "Mentor" has scared you off with that very misplaced comment.

Add-ons from Curse are generally considered pretty safe to use by the player base and you can see from the number of installs that there are many that are extremely popular and heavily used.
