Cant get past level 40 Cooking?

I know how it's supposed to work (i.e. Quest from Cartisse Cooker in East varanas), but he doesn't have the quest for me. There's is a grey quest marker above his head, but no quest at all.

None of my other crafting skills r even up to level 10.

My gathering skills (wood, herbs, ore) are lvl 41.

I also have a crafting skill called Disenchant (don't no if that affects it all).

Any1 no what the problem could? What am I missing?

Since CoO/Xaviera offers easy mode for everything, simplest thing to do would be to train there. Trainers at Heffner dont ask for quests or items made right below 40, they just check if you are 40 and promote you.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

You can only have 3 skills over level 40. Because all 3 of your gathering skills (wood, herbs, ore) are 41+, you cannot raise any other crafting skill to 40+. You will have to rank down in one of your gathering skills if you want to get past 40 cooking.

You are wrong. You can have all the gathering skills maxed out (I do). But it is the crafting skills that you cannot have more than one over lvl 40. I really havent chosen which one I will get over lvl 40 yet so I am jsut sitting back to see what comes along.

I thought that it was that you could have all crafts (crafts include all gathering professions though not planting iirc) to level 20.

6 to level 40.

3 to level 60 (obviously from the previous 6).

1 to level 80.

So if I remember correctly, both Mouse and Faranim are wrong; though Faranim only has the level wrong but the concept right. Mouse agrees with the incorrect level, but completely misunderstands concept of the crafting restrictions.

Though I freely admit that I neither a crafter nor gatherer be, so I am completely open to correction by those more knowledgeable than myself.

Edit: Lol, corrected by those more knowledgeable than me and can read English. My most heartfelt apologies, Faranim, who is of course correct (but cruelly phrases things differently from me, how mean is that?) and thanks to RoMage.

KatalanOrk,

I believe that Faranim said the same thing you did, you can have only 3 skills above 40 or as you said, up to 60.

Mouse, gathering counts as skill as well.

So in other words, to do one skill (alchemy for example) and be able to collect/process all mats you need one alchemist and 2 gathering alts.

IMHO, they should have set it so that you can have 4 skills up to 80 (all 3 gathering + 1 skill or other combination).

Since there is way around (with alts), it's not high priority, but it would be nice to not have to switch so many times just to produce simple thing.

I kind of does make sense the way they did it. I may be wrong here but if you pick 1 profession to level, lets say Alchemy. You only need herbs and ore so you can level Alchemy, herbs, ore to level 60 and only need 1 toon. But yes they really need to change it. Make gathering and crafting separate and make everyone happy. Simple solution if you ask me.

It looks like in the near future, we will be able to get more above 40. If you check your title list under 'Crafting", one of the available titles is written "Study all production skills to "craftsman"" and another is "Study 3 production skills to "expert"".

you can get everything (except gathering i think) up to 60 by talking to the NPC in Heffner in CoO if you have it at 20 or 40 already

its like that since ch4 beginning, it COULD be a bug, has been reported for as long the first one noticed, yet noone seemed to care to comment after half a year still ..

The idea behind limited number of skills would be to facilitate trade between players. But like you said, there is a relatively easy way around this, and crafting is of limited importance, so it doesn't really work that way.

You have to remember these are the American Servers we're talking about, not European. Euro servers seem to have advantages US servers don't.

vfwiffo had correct answer, rising level in Heffner Camp enables all skills to up to level 60. Too bad there is not enabled to rise to level 80 yet.
Currently my char has one skill over 60 (Armorcrafting) and 5 skills all maxed at level 60 (Mining, WoodCutting, Herbalism, Alchemy, Cooking).
Other 3 are still below 40, haven't had time to max those yet.
This does not work in the US servers?

Hmmmm, when I read his response that's not how I interpreted it. I guess I will have to try later today.
