Rom takes a good 4-8hrs to download for most people.

If you're having trouble during the download, you may want to shut down your firewall. Else, when you click to execute the zip file, right-click on it and choose to "run as administrator." That should cause less hiccups in the process. If you're having trouble with freezes during update process, simply ctrl+alt+del to open your task manager, choose to close the application, and execute the program using the same "run as administrator" option. It should start up again where you left off.

If you're still having trouble, you may want to check your internet connection, wireless connections will take a little longer than a wired one, so try plugging it in to an ethernet cable for less interference.

If you're having problems with the FOG download manager locking up--it affects some people, myself included--then shut it down, delete the installation files you already have, and go here: http://forum.us.runesofmagic.com/showthread.php?t=66641 You'll find two lists of direct file downloads, one for each of the clients, Full and Slim. Select a list to download from, and go to town.

I'd recommend that you download no more than two files at a time to keep your relative download speed reasonable. Once you have all of the files from one of the lsits, run the ROMSetup.exe file.

depends on your internet connection speed too... mines is above average and it took a great deal of time for it to do its thing, froze many times but i just ignored it and let it thaw on its own, after some hours it was done on the first try. first time it froze for more than an hour I IGNORED IT AND LET IT THAW sometimes thats the best option to do but idk our issues may be different.

I have had ths problem on occasion also. I ahve fibre optic T1 line and even with those speeds RoM has a tendency to be a redheaded step child having a tantrum. Like most of the posters here say it is best to just let it do its thing and wait the storm out. Not sure if the issues are releated to RoM itself or where we have to get the client and patches from.

Ohh not again.... /missing_face_palm_smiley_goes_here

T1 as you can see is fairly limited, and slow. (1.54MB/s) For example you can't watch HD netflix movie without tons of buffering time. (usually Netflix client will downsize quality)

I would suggest faster internet, if possible. Most of Cable companies where I live (Michigan) have 99 bucks/month plan with cable tv, phone and internet that is anywhere between 8MB/s and 20MB/s. I see usually speed between 18 and 22 on mine.

IMHO, here impatience is key factor in frustration.

Romage a T1 Fiber Optic line is the FASTEST internet you can get. There is nothing faster unless you live on top of the server farm that the data is held on. Here is the link I posted before on just how fast a T1 line is: http://t1internetlines.com/36/t1-fiber-optics/

And here is the full run down on the T1 fiber optic lines: http://computer.howstuffworks.com/question372.htm

You cannot get anything faster than T1fiber Optics right now no matter how far and wide you look.

There is no other data service that can hit 30 KILOBITS per second except a T1 Fiber optic line. I am editing this for a bit more information. Most people cannot afford T1 due to its high cost and requirements and any other faster service costs even more. I own a small business that does a lot of online sales and that is how I can afford a T1 line. Now saying that here is some lite reading on the truth of just how fast NON-COMERCIAL internte speeds are http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424…1482920690.html

Nothing comes close to a T1 fiber optic line, and even the verizon speeds are dependent on factors that we have no control over. Best speed realisticaly available to regular consumers hover between 2500 megs and 6000 megs. And truthfully noone will actualy see those speeds.

The instal depends on which client you actualy downloaded. If you got the newest version it might take a few minutes for the actual instal. But then you will ahve to patch it which may take a while and that again depends on which client you downloaded.

Install part does not take really long, but downloading updates does, so be prepared to leave you computer on for a long time until patcher finishes it's job.

@MegaMouse - from your link:

Quoted

A T1 line can carry 24 digitized voice channels, or it can carry data at a rate of 1.544 megabits per second.

1.54MB < average 20MB I got from my ISP (Comcast)
