Ok guys here it is: one of my guildmates has hit a wall. He cannot accept the quest "Go to the Land of Malevolence". We ahve used Advanced quest book to attempt and find where he lost or jsut forgot to do a quest but as far as we could find out he did everything. He is missing Toni' Instructions but has the other instructions. What I would like to know is this: Does he need to have Toni's Instructions to further the quest line or not?? I am unsure if he accidently threw them away or not. Morrick is where he is supposed to be to take him to LoM but has no quest for him and when my buddy talks to him he gets the usual NPC gibberish. Anything yall can suggest would be very helpful here as it is going on 3 months now with no resolution to this.

It would be best to to get your friend to post directly and to give such details as what titles he is missing. And if you have AdvQB then he should know whether or not he has completed the quest that gives you Toni's Instructions.

Has he used the 'Quests available' search?

To help we need details of where your friend is, and what he has tried to resolve the problem.

A more accurately named thread would also help direct potential help to this thread - maybe some people know the points where there are issues with this questline but they may never open the thread to find out what is contained behind the cryptic title.

I'd refer you to here for more info about thread titles.

We did everything to find what the heck is wrong. Like I have said we used not only Advanced Quest Book but also his titles and the available quests search and NOTHING TURNED IP AT ALL (although we did find one that both of us were missing in Savage lands). He ahs done EVERY QUEST that he can get ahold of, including ALL instace quests and the dailies in each zone at l;east once. My question was this "Is the item "Toni's Instructions" needed to get the quest "Go to the Land of Malevolence" or not???" We ahve tried everything except throwing his computer out the third floor window.

I don't know about whether you need Toni's Instructions, but I would guess not.

And if you have done absolutely everything what exactly do think that anyone else can do for you ? :p

Joking aside, has your friend completed Rescue and Tracking?

Like I ahve said he completed everything. I even went so far as to get him to send me his loggin info (not recommended unless you trust someone completely) so I could check for myself. We searched every quest from the very starting area talked to EVERY npc and using Runesdatabase used advanced quest book to check every quest. Frogster has been unable to help so that is why I am ere asking for help now. If you dont know then please leave it to those that might. Oh and if you had read my first post you would see that we did everyting I just mentioned already.

what titles is he missing from the previous zones*? that would be a good start to pick up a missing quest line, get the name of the quest needed to obtain the title from the titles menu und search the quest string backwards on runesdatabase from there... (you CANNOT** have all the titles from THH, SJF,NJF and LD if youre missing some quests that prevent you from continuing with the main quest line now...)

otherwise i know of an addon that will output ALL quests the character has NOT completed to the <documents>/runes of magic/<charname>/savevariables.lua so you could go check against those ... but depending on how quest-lazy people are thats a HUGE list.

*starting with THH upwards, ofc. any quests thats not Dalanis+ is not of use here

**Edit: i just found this, https://forum.runesofmagic.com/showthread.php?t=398314 , is that the same situation? maybe try it from a different installation (you said you could login so maybe you can give it a try from your pc instead of him... ). otherwise ill dig out the addon and you can generate yourself a nice long list of uncompleted quests.

just in case you need to go the addon way:

unzip to addon dir, relog twice (quest data gets saved on logout, so you need to login to get the stuff loaded at all and to logout to save the data to your file)

open your char-specific savevariables.lua to find your quest data: My Documents/Runes of Magic/CHARACTERNAME/SaveVariables.lua - not My Documents/Runes of Magic/SaveVariables.lua

look for something that looks like (german example from original thread):

since the Go to the Land of Malevolence quest is in Magical Reconstruction, there can not be much quests missing, AFAIK Envoy of the Dragons + Return the Glory need both to be completed to get into Magical Reconstruction because its a merge of both into this one at the end of Limo.

if no quest seems to be missing at all, and even trying from a different installation (see the bug problem i linked above) does not help, then you really have a problem ...

Thanks Yoman I will try the missing quest addon seeing as that may be the only way to fix his problem. Gonna send it along to him and hopefully see if he will not get amd at me. I will also check out the bug topic and see if maybe that could be the problem. He is working on another toon and I am actualy working right alongside him to get to where his main is (I am a druid/scout and he is a knight/priest) so far we are almost to Limo and doing EVERY quest with these 2 new characters.

Mouse, if you have tried EVERYTHING, then what exactly do you expect anyone to help you with? Anything that anyone can advise has already been done by you, because you have tried everything. Reinstall? Done it. Talk to every NPC? Done it. Check available quests? Done it. See what titles are missing? Done it. There isn't anyway that you can get help that way.

I am trying to help, and what you need to do for the best results is start again, show step by step what you have done (even if you don't have to go into explicit detail for every single step) and see if anyone can find a spot where you may have overlooked something.

Now it can happen that things can just get messed up entirely, but it is very rare. Most often, we have a user error somewhere. But what ever the case, without giving all the information you have it is nearly impossible for anyone to help you. Even just through a system of elimination, it stops people suggesting things or trying to work out things that aren't necessary cause they don't play any role in your friend's problem.

I hope you find the solution to your friend's problem, but it would be easier to help you find it if you were a little more forthcoming.

Try this... I know I got stuck in a similar situation... but there's a quest in Kingdom of Limon that involves Toni & Iswan Giant, sending you to Earthspring Falls to "convince" one of the dog people to aide their quest. Problem is, once you accept it, you get no quest markers and Toni & Iswan disappear. The only way to know you even have the quest is to find it in your quest log. However, you stated that he already had Toni's instructions, so there's a possibility that you've already done this quest.

In that affect, I would ask if your friend has completed the "Envoy of the Dragons" questline up to that point as well. Remember, both the Return of the King & the Envoy of the Dragons questlines merge in Limo, and one cannot progress into LoM without having both of them. If you haven't, I would suggest having him go back and find Morrok Windrider, and catch up his quest line. As far as I know, you DO NOT need the instructions from either Toni or Morrok to advance into LoM, as I tossed mine the minute I got them. However, you DO need to have both the quest lines tied together in Limo before you head to LoM.

Rescue and Tracking and Go to the Land of Malevolence are start of Magical Reconstruction. If they are available, that should get him rolling. But then Seek Help is part of Envoy and Starlight is part of RtG. So, he might have to do them first.

I fiume myself in the same situation once.
I can't remember the quest name, but go to the broken pipe in dalanis sewers. The broken pipe gives a quest that is necessary to go past limo. It's tricky because it does not show on map since the giver is inside an "instance"

according to his list hes waaaay beyond that in the quest lines, hes just missing the last 2-3 quests to continue in LoM. and those lists are sorted by quest id, so it should have been on the list he posted if not completed.

Thanks guys we will look into it and I will let yall know how it turns out. The addon seems to have been a very big help here and should be readily available to the rest of the RoM players.

This is specificaly directed at YomanROM: I must thank you for the addon as it seems to have given Frogster enough information to send this issue along to the Devs. You were a big help and both my guildmate and I owe you big time. From the E-Mail they sent me from support it seems that there is a discrepency in what the addon says my friend did and what the servers say he did. I also must thank the support team at Frogster for putting up with my constant bugging them on this issue. Lets hope it can be solved soon.
