Questions before I start making any plans.

I like to read up and plan what I'm doing before I start playing and the dual class system looks pretty cool, so I looked it up. There are a lot of classes that look like fun with elite skills etc. but I can't really seem to find any real in-game talk about them so my questions are pretty simple:

1) is there a really in-depth fan site that can give me a lot of information from players in game, not just the spell information and class description, but how the class is played, it's most effective uses and weaknesses, and just more. maybe some guides to give me a starting point

2) The classes I'm looking at playing are Mage/Rogue, Knight/Mage, and Priest/Warrior. Can anyone shed some light on these classes specialties and the roles they play in game (ie: more PvE or PvP based) and if they're good at their job or if there is something that plays similar and does it better?

3) I hate crafting and material gathering of all kinds, do I have to do it in this game to get the most out of my character or can I just ignore it?

1. I think the best place would be the US or EU class forums. A lot of the guides got deleted (for whatever reason >.<) on the US side but there's still tons of information here.

2. All of those classes are good as you level, but once you get to endgame, their usefulness decreases. I've tried out Knight/Mage and Priest/Warrior, and they're really enjoyable classes (imo). All of these classes have the potential to be great, but they need a boost from the devs to get them going. But you should go with what you think would be fun. You can always grab a third class if you find out you don't like your character. :)

To answer your question, though, Mage/Rogue is a dpser and they're really good in PvP (either that or Rogue/Mage - can't remember :P). Knight/Mage is a tanky class that has a lot of benefits if you know how to play them right. However, they are more of a dps knight than a tank since they have very few skills for holding aggro. Priest/Warrior can either be statted as a tank, a dps, or a healer. Personally, I think it's a blast because you get a bunch of added physical defense and attack from the /Warrior side so you get a tanky priest. (I was partying with a Rogue/Priest and I was taking all the hits and her health was going down more than mine).

3. You can ignore it without a lot of pain. You may want food/buffs, but you can usually buy those off of the auction house or another player pretty cheaply (if you need them at all, which I haven't)

Thanks a lot for that fairly quick reply! I might go priest/warrior as the last MMO I played for any real length of time was WAR and I played Warrior-Priest (heh) and it seemed similar in that it was a priest that goes and whacks things and heals. I'm really not all that worried about endgame. I've been fairly depressed with most of the MMOs I've been playing and if I manage to really like this one and play it further then just a couple of months, I'll probably find out what I need to do to play endgame the way I want to.

once again, thank you ^_^

Mage/rogue- Good at PvP, not so much in PvE
Knight/Mage- Polar opposites, elites dont help much either. One of the many broken combos.
Priest/Warrior- a dead combo really. This is the "Battlemonk" of the game. Sadly, in order to do this, youll need to wear cloth with physical attack armor, and there just isnt that much of it past lvl 55 in game. (level cap is 70).

You can do without crafting for the most part, but at end game, it does help. Especially when creating instruments (attack speed, spellcasting speed, etc when played).

Ouch.... how come??

I find M/R in many cases better then even current OP class (R/S). Just like all other Mages, we are CC class, thus PvE is a bit easier then for other 'tab-attack' classes. ;)

Yow. Goes to show that I like to play the champions that don't get gear no matter what game I play xD. thanks again though. I'll probably be more concerned about end game when I finally get to it and I'll be honest, I usually play these games, get to max level, and then any crafting I could have been doing is at like... novice levels the newbies usually get out of at level 10. I just can't stand there and afk for 30 minutes while my character stands in front of a forge making 9 million tin bars.

What about Warden/Rogue? my girlfriend is thinking of playing too just to see if it's any fun and I know she's going to play an elf druid (because that's what she does).
