... It seems either most people around my lv are sporting amazing gear, Some way that i don't know how to make money or there doing P2P. Anyways I've played many mmorpg's and was hoping people could share some insight on what to expect form joining a guild in this game.
Is it drama/greed based end game or more of a enjoyable scene? Like all games well most anyways, everyone is trying to obtain/make there current gear better. But from what I'm assuming it has to do with instances and mementos?
Anyways id appreciate any information regarding these questions. Thank you.
That completely depends on what guild you choose. Any group of people is going to have some drama of course, but most guilds do try and avoid it. Some guilds are founded on advancement at any cost (which could be considered "greed") and others are all about helping each other progress. Some guilds are strictly endgame-only, others cater to the casual gamer. Which you choose is completely up to you.
You didn't say which server you are on, which will make it hard for people to give you advice on which guild to join, should you choose to join one.
People join guilds for a lot of reasons. Social ones usually- part of the appeal in an MMO is the massively-multiplayer part, and they want people to play with. You also need a group to be able to run instances close to your level. A guild fulfills both of those functions. You also need to be guilded to participate in Siege War, which is RoM's once-daily cross server guild vs. guild battlefield.
As a guild leader, I can tell you that my experience within Notorious has been highly positive. We have our ups and downs, but my experience has been that the RoM playerbase is actually very helpful, generous and kind. There are bad apples in all games and RoM is no exception, but we're a pretty nice bunch, all things considered.
The best advice I can give you is to find a guild who's goals coincide with your own. Do you aspire to endgame badassery? Find an endgame-focused guild. Do you like to play a more casual game? Find a family-style guild. If you're a little shy, you might want to start in a smaller guild and if you are extroverted, you may enjoy a large and more boisterous guild.
Some guilds will want you to follow an application process, and will want you to commit time or resources. Others have a more open recruitment policy. Some require you to use a voice-chat client like Ventrilo or Raidcall, others don't use voice chat at all. Some have very strict gear requirements, others don't. Some specialize in training lower level toons, but most have a minimum level restriction. You'll just have to ask around and see who is recruiting on your server.
If you choose to be free to play, a good guild is necessary if you wish to explore endgame content ever. Most guilds help their guildies gear up- how much they help depends on the guild and how much you as a player are willing to invest in your toon- and by invest I mean how much time you are willing to spend farming gold to trade for dias to mod your gear. My own guild tries to help everyone, but we reward players who work hard on their gear using their own efforts first. Few guilds give free handouts, and this is good for everyone, as all guilds have limited resources. A good guild helps those who help themselves and others.
My own guild, Notorious, strives to be both endgame and family-style, with few rules, and we try and help people play RoM the way they want to. While that sometimes causes some conflict, we mostly manage to balance on the tightrope and please almost everyone. You'll be happiest if you find a group of people who want to play the same way you do.
