Entire RoM file deleted - will it effect the game

Recently, a program decided to delete many files in my computer, and the Runes of Magic folder, along with everything in it, was also deleted. Currently, the game still works, but I'm just wondering it not having the RoM file in my computer will cause any issues for the game in the future.

You mean the hidden RoM folder in "My Documents"?

If so, that would (to the best of my knowledge) just lose your settings, like how you had your UI and such set up, and it will remake a new RoM hidden folder the next time you open and close the client, so you'll be fine.

If you mean the RoM program folder in your Programs, you'd be in much bigger trouble.

Check back in with more details if you have issues.

If RoM still works then you have no problem. Just find the offending program and oust it from your computer. If you are having problems getting rid of it I suggest you use this: http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_unin…e_download.html

There are 2 versions of Revo Uninstaller but I se the free one and it does an excellent job of getting rd of pesky problem programs. Hopefully you didnt catch a virus because that is a bigger problem though. Always have a reputable internet security suite installed and running. NEVER DISABLE YOUR FIREWALL, doing so can and will expose your computer to unfriendlies and cause you major headaches. I use AVG's internet suite but there are several out there that are real good. Hopefully this helps out some.

The program was removed from my computer when it did this. It was one of those "Your removing me? Than I'll take your things with me!" programs.I believe it was my RoM program folders, with the cashe, screenshots, etc. I think the contents may still be scattered around in my computer though. From what I know of, RoM files are very persistant lol.

I tried to redownload the folder from my "Restore to Previous Versions" option, but everytime, a message would pop up saying that the folder is already in this file (although I don't see it), and whether I want to merge it. After I click Yes and it finishes downloading, the RoM folder is still not there :(

Ok sounds like you got hit with one of those hijack programs that are so rampant out there. My advice is to do a search for it on the web then use the advice from others on how to get your files back. Now reading that you attempted to do a recovery and your computer says the folder is still there lets me know it was turned into a hidden folder. Search for the folder using the search function when you open your computer (just click the little computer icon on your desktop if you ahve one, if not then press start and click the word computer in the right hand list). After opening it in the upper right ahnd corner there will be a search box. Input the name of the folder you want to find then press enter. If it does not find the folder in the first try it will ask you to expand your search. DO it so it includes hidden and system folders. You should find your missing folder that way and to restore it you must open its properties and uncheck Hidden on the bottom. It will ask you if you want to do this just press yes for each popup. Let me know if that works.

ruisen2000 there is another way to fix this. Buit it will take your computer tback to a previous time and you will ahve to do some updating. Using the computer restore option in windows you can back date your computer to a point where the offending program had not been installed. But like I said you will have to update everything again afterwards.
