currently the best choice is scout. almost every end-game player who wants to DPS and get into parties is a rogue/scout. that's just the way it is. they're the easiest to play and do the most burst damage. other classes are capable of matching the DPS of a rogue, however they are not as popular.

I chose mage - not many players do. I find that I am not as strong as some other rogues in PvE, but PvP is blast. It is super fun class to play - there is no one button mashing and every fight is different as you have bunch of different strategies and skills to select from.

Here you go, here is a link to the elite skills a Rogue can get: http://www.theromwiki.com/Rogue_Elite_Skills

Elite skills are specific skills based on your primary and secondary class that you get at level 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50 (you have to do a quest to get them). The elite skills are generally what make or break a class combo. So look at that link and you can see all of the combinations with Rogue and what their special elite skills are :)

they're the easiest to play

Not really that simple, they are pretty useless once cooldowns are gone if you don't know how to play your class, definitely not an "easy class" just a very popular choice because they excel at PVP and The first 20 seconds or so of a fight. Or at least that was the way I saw it when I mained R/S

Apparently you're still low level. Get to endgame and say that with a straight face.

(And no, I'm not saying mages are a faceroll class. Due to the badly designed "rebalance," their biggest DPS in burn phases comes from spamming Flame. Without that, they fall very much behind other DPS.)

@ OP, R/S is the most common rogue, but other combos are used sometimes as well -- though some excel more in PvP and less so in PvE.

I am level 70 Rogue/Mage and "there is no one button mashing" with this class combo.
