Install Issues

I am trying to install Runes of Magic once again. Its been over a year since I played. But when I try to install, I come up with an error stating the source file is corrupted. Please help, I would love to begin playing again in spare time.

I would suggest removing all your old RoM files and try re-installing a brand new version of it. It seems like there is some data corruption with your old files that are conflicting with the new updates. Perhaps it has something to do with patches overriding patches that were meant to fix updates.

The thing is, There are no old files. I removed everything. I got a new hard drive. Was installing the full client the first time, and got it to download the setup files in Program Files(x86) and in the middle, my wireless adapter quit. So I removed them, and then retried and couldnt put them in any file under Local Disk(C

. Even the Slim client cant be put under there. I dont know why its doing this. I had no problem when I past played. I want back on my lvl 58 account again. I think its 58 XD

Was installing the full client the first time, and got it to download the setup files in Program Files(x86) and in the middle, my wireless adapter quit. So I removed them, and then retried and couldnt put them in any file under Local Disk(C. Even the Slim client cant be put under there. I dont know why its doing this. What you will need to do is to uninstall whatever portion of the game you have, delete the installation files you have, then either download them again using the FOG download manager or, you can directly download the installation files here: http://forum.us.runesofmagic.com/showthread.php?t=66641

For your machine, I'd recommend the Slim client. Download no more than two files at a time to keep your download speed at a reasonable rate. When you're finished, use the ROMSetup.exe file to install the game. Once it's installed, you will have a dozen or so update patches that will need to be installed the first time you run the game client.

Now, for the bad news. Your computer is using a video chipset that isn't terribly well supported by our game, and you have less than the minimum required dedicated video RAM that is needed. Presuming that the game will run and display, you will have a fair amount of video lag and low framerates. You should reduce your video settings to pretty much as low as they can go, and deselect all of the special effects checkboxes.

Well I will try working on that. But Im using the full client. Before when I had the game installed, I never had to worry about lag that much. It usually didnt lag. So If it does, I will uninstall the full client and install the slim client. Otherwise, This machine should carry the game pretty well.

I directly downloaded the files, and still got the same error as above. I do not know why this is happening now, when I had no problem before.

The weird part is I have all the old files from ROM before my computer crashed. I click the launcher and it works. Why I cannot reinstall is beyond me. Guess I will patch and move the game to the hard drive.

to be perfectly honest, I really saw no difference between the slim and the full clients, except the slim was just smaller in size and was a lighter load on my computer. All in all i don't see what the big deal is with choosing the full over the slim.

Well, the game works now. Only issue is im a lvl 51 mage and cant use thunderstorm spell (available at lvl 34)

Did you remember to level Lightning to at least level 15? Cause there were several free tp resets in the last year or so due to changes in skills, and T-storm won't be usable unless you get Lightning to level 15.
