Yet another New Player with some Questions.

Hey guys.. I'm new to this game.. I haven't even played it yet - It's downloading now, but i have some questions..
Well first off, I'm an EX WoW Player, I'm sure a lot of you are :p, But what i really liked in wow is the community i guess? Like how people would actually play the game as an MMO, every other game i play it seem's like no one's talkative, no one will do dungeons or anything.. it's like everyone's just on a mission to get to the level cap and never play again, Now is this Community of RoM like that? If not what server(if there's servers or realms or whatever..) should i join? I'm not an RPer, and i don't care if PvP is on or not, I'm just looking for a game where people aren't so shy or kept to themselves i want more of a game where i can have fun.. do dungeons and raids and quests but as a team not as a lone wolf.. and i want that team to talk.
I have experience with MMOs, i was in a high ranked Raiding guild on WoW, but i know this isn't wow, but i'm hoping my skills will transfer over here, so if you give me suggestions on what server to play on, i'd like to know the friendly guilds (that is if you have those.. again first time player haven't done ENOUGH studying i guess :o and what does the Server/Realm/Whatever Need? Does it need more Tanks? Healers? DPS?.. Or get into details.. Does it need Scouts? Wardens? Maybe even Rogues? Who knows.. Just let me know in your opinion!

I know it's a bit long but i hope if you take the time to read it you'd be able to help me as fast as I can because i'm truly excited to play this game!

This game is VERY talkative. People love to play and they play a lot, and end-game is DEFINITELY not something that can be rushed. It takes a long time to get there, and even when you do get there, everyone stays.

Guilds are huge in game, there are tons to choose from and many who would love to have you. My guild, Prosperity, is one of those. We are tailored to new players and will help you as you learn about the game and quest with you as well. We won't play your character for you or force you to play a certain way, we will simply guide you and help you along the way. :)

The server really could use anything right now. Tanks are the lowest I'd say...there aren't very many GOOD end-game tanks. There are countless rogues, we definitely do not need anymore of those....rogue/scout is the highest DPS combo in the game, which is why there are so many. Scouts aren't as popular anymore since they got nerfed, but they are extremely fun to play. Wardens are really really good now and can play any roll depending on your combo (tank, heal, dps etc) and they will do it extremely well. Knights are the main tank right now, but they're having issues keeping aggro end-game, which is why there aren't many of them (because they take some time to learn). Closely following r/s for dps is warrior/rogue. They are insane and extremely fun to play. I find warrior to be my favorite class, however it is not very popular due to the rage mechanic. Mages are fun to play as well, however they are having issues end-game balancing HP with Magic Attack, since things have such high Magic Defense and you have to have such a high amount of HP to survive.

We have plenty of healers in the game right now, and they're all very good. Priest and Druid are both good healers in their own way, but Priest is the more popular of the two since it goes off of instant heals instead of heals over time.

All I can say is visit theromwiki.com and look at the elite skills for all the combos (it's on the front page on the right). Elite skills are special skills you get at levels 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50, and are based on what primary and secondary class you have active. They often make or break your class combo. :) If you have any questions feel free to whisper me in-game and I can help. I've been here for two years so I can answer almost any question you have! My name is Ryuth, I am on the Reni server, and Reni would love to have you. :) We're the best!

Hey, Thank's for the Reply! I'll be going on Reni for sure it seems to be the most popular.. I'm at 2gb downloaded on the smaller client so i'm not that far from playing, I'll give you a whisper but i have a couple more questions now, Do you have to Pay to win? as in to be good.. do i have to pay actual money to become useful in raids later on? Also i don't really get secondary classes, do you level them each separately? Or together, and say if i went Warrior/Rogue, How would i use Rogue abilities as a warrior.. Do i have Rage AND energy? I'm looking at the possibility of a tank but if i need to pay to win that possibility drops seeing as I don't have a job and that's definitely something i can't afford.. :o

Awesome, the smaller client is the way to go especially on laptops; this game has its bugs and the smaller client greatly reduces the frequency of crashing in the game.

You don't HAVE to pay to win. There are many players who do not pay, and my guild has events where we give out free mounts and free things from the item shop that cost real money, so there is always some way you can get stuff for free. Players in game also sell diamonds (which is the currency in the item shop; you buy diamonds with real money) for gold. Gold is earned for free in-game, so if you get enough of it you can trade your gold for diamonds. :) Paying with real money makes things a lot faster though, I won't lie!

To level your classes, you get one primary and one secondary class active at one time. (You can choose 3 classes for your character. I have warrior, rogue, and knight. so i can be a w/r, a w/k, a r/k, a r/w, a k/r, and a k/w, get it?) You have to switch your secondary class to your primary class in order to start leveling that side. There are multiple starting zones including daily quests, so there is plenty of XP to go around!

Each class has a set of general skills and specific skills. General skills are skills that can be used if you are using that class as a secondary, and specific skills are skills that can only be used if you have that class as your primary. So as a warrior/rogue, I can use the general and specific skills of my warrior with the general skills of my rogue. :) Therefore, it is important to look at what general skills every class gets to see how well it will go with your primary class and vice versa!

And yes, you will get both rage and energy to use, since you will be getting skills from both of the classes. Elite skills often mix as well; one elite skill will go off of rage, another will go off of energy. :)

Tanking is the most expensive class in the game to play, but it is also VERY rewarding. I am playing a tank right now, and I'm in the middle of the leveling process, and it is really fun! There are multiple options you can choose to tank, I can help describe those to you in-game if you'd like! The tank gear and stats are the most expensive in the auction house, but it can all be obtained by yourself and can save a lot of gold! There are many options to play the game and we will help you any way we can.

I have to work tonight, so if you log into the game and I am not online, just feel free to whisper one of the officers in my guild for an invite or for help! They are: Lucywolfbane, Aelthel, and Seyya or Sayya (depending on which character he is on haha). I look forward to meeting you and helping you as you experience this wonderful game!

Alright sounds AWESOME! :), but one FINAL question.. As a Warrior/Mage for say.. would there not be a problem there? Wouldn't you have to have Attack AND Magic Attack armor? I'm a bit confused, and Just wondering is there any referall system.. like recruit a friend on WoW? If there is i'd be intrested in putting your name down for whatever it is.. that is if there is one, and before i forget i know i said final question.. but i lied, :D, Can you have multiple Characters or do you have to pay for extra slots..

For w/m I would advise going the magic attack route. NEVER try to hybridize, it will hurt you in the end. Always choose one or the other. :)
And yes, you can have up to 8 characters on one account, all the slots are open. :)

Sorry for the late response! I just got off work. Yes, of course your brother would be accepted into the guild as well and treated the same way! I hope one of our officers was able to speak with you in-game, if not I hope to hear from you soon!
