Invalid Skill Certificate?

Hi! I've been getting lvl 25 skill training certificates (to get my elite skills for that level) from that Invaders from the Sea quest in Heffner camp; but, for some reason, when I try to use them to get a skill, Akjad won't teach me the skill, insisting that I don't yet have the certificate. Has anybody else had this problem?

Hello tlobb91,

Make sure you attempt to "redeem" those skill training certificates at the one elite skill guy in Heffner Camp. You cannot redeem them at the regular ones in Varanas etc. (Akjab will not accept them)

Person you need is in Heffner, next to class trainers.

You want Lowen Dunlit as the good people above have said. The old teachers can teach all the other skills but for levels 25, 35 and 50 - but it is probably still easier just to use Mr Dunlit for them all.

There are no regular ones in Logar but you probably meant Varanas...?

Yes, I meant Logar.

Mind was drifting when I posted that.

Was talking about the one in Varanas in front of FA.

Just wanted to say I just ran into this problem.

I followed the instructions of Listi Pursdon, who specifically says to seek out Fay Akjad for my Level 25 Elite Skills. Upon reaching Fay, he kept telling me I didn't have a certificate, even though I was staring at it in my pack - apparently, Fay is a bit blind in his old age. :-)

On a whim, I searched this forum for "Akjad" and found this thread - Following the instructions here, I sought out Lowen Dunlit in Heffner Camp, and he was all too happy to teach me my needed skills..

So problem averted, but I wanted to point out that Listi (in Varanas) is still directing people to Fay. Listi needs to know that Fay has been fired, and to redirect people to Heffner Camp.. Or perhaps someone just needs to buy Fay a new pair of glasses. :)

(Or in other words, if this is a known issue, 8 months should have been more than enough time to either change the text in Listi's message box directing people to Heffner Camp, OR fix Fay.. I'm sure I'm not the first person to have this bug drive them to the point of wanting to blast Fay with a Fireball or two!) :-)

Keep researching before declaring this a bug. Ever since CoO came out, it was known that certificates past level 20 are specific to where you obtained them.

Obtain them the proper way, like NPCs tells you, by collecting the appropriate mats, and trainer will take the cert just fine. Obtain them from old bag and you have to go to trainer that accepts old bags certificates.

There is specific direction from trainer telling you what is needed to be done to obtain the skill from the trainer himself. If you read and follow the direction trainer gives you, it will work fine. If you don't, it might have adverse effect on you sanity and cause you to consider extra flamage of NPCs.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

Keep in mind that regardless of where/how you get the certificates, if you are dwarf you gotta go back to Morfantas City.

It's known to whom? It doesn't appear to be known to new players, and there's nothing in the ingame Lore that suggests that the old trainers won't take the Old Bags for levels 25, 35 and 50. In fact, with Listi successfully taking the Old Bags for the level 15 & 20 Elite Skills, and pointing me directly to Fay for the level 25's, I couldn't see any reason (in the Lore) as to why it wouldn't work.

If it's not a bug, it's still definitely confusing for new players. I'm guessing RoM still gets those from time to time, since I'm one of them. :)

While it can be confusing, try and stick with each region - the 25's and 35's are region-specific. Old bag certificates will not work with the old NPC's, the turn-in based old NPC's only want the certificates they give out. :)

New players are as capable of reading and following the instructions given by trainer to obtain the certificate as old players. If a new player choses to not read and comprehend what the quest asks him to do, that is player's fault. The quest/trainer asks you to turn in materials either gathered or farmed in instances. You did not do that, you jumped to conclusion that the other certificate obtained in the other way is the same. It is not.
