Tiering question

I am thinking about taking a lvl 60 staff to tier 7 and i would just like to now 1) how many transmuter charges it would take? 2) how many fusion stones? 3) how many tier 4 items

I have a T7 Root of Nightmare on my Priest, i say go for it. You'll most likely want to get a better weapon at either 65 or 67 depending whats available to you through availability of runs or in AH and stuff.
i keep to this rule when it comes to tiering weapons
lvl 55: Don't go further than T6.
lvl 60: Don't go further than T7.
lvl 65: T8 acceptable.
lvl 67-70: T9, T10 definitely.
That's just my opinion tho in the matter

I'd say that depends on the weapon. Lv 60 RT diamond weapon, and level 65 GCH weapon are both T9 worthy, imo. Even at the end of chapter 4, a lot of people still run around with a T9-T10 Raksha magic Staff (60) and The Puppet Queen (65) on govinda.

I personaly would wait until Ch5 is released. We get some new instances and hopefully new gear with it plus they should be raising the level cap (I hope to lvl 75 at least). Now if they do not raise the lvl cap then and only then I would tier a weapon that is lower than lvl 70. June is when they are giving us the next chapter so the wait is worth it. Just start collecting the stats and mana stones you will need to tier you weapon and hang onto them. If you do not PvP or Siege waiting is the best thing. Now if you do siege it might be better for you to see if there is a weapon in the AH that has a reasonable price already tiered.

For general questing, a tier 7 Root of Nightmares will do, even in Tergothen Bay. If you want to run end game instances, then you will need to get a big stick. In this game, your weapon is your most important piece of equipment, and you want to get the biggest one you can. It is not difficult to get to level 70, at which point you can get a Shackles staff and tier it to a min of 9. From what I can tell, there is only a slightly better staff at level 75.

This is the staff to have at level 75: http://www.runesdatabase.com/item/213595/clandestine-staff

But it appears to be a crafted one so it may be real hard to get.

This would be the next target for any good mage if the first one I linked doesn't get stuck ingame:
http://www.runesdatabase.com/item/213214/flame-flux-staff

Now both of these rely on Frogster to open up the item drop files and allow them to be dropped. There are a ton of killer weapons already ingame but they are set to not drop. Not real sure why Frogster has elected to limit what drops but I feel it is not right. If the database says it is ingame then it should drop. More people may decide to stay if the best weapons and gear that the database's say are ingame actually dropped.

Both staff linked have less Mdam than Shackles lol. And agreed, take your time. Look at world chat, there are often people trading their fully tiered, plussed Raksha/Puppet Queen staff for a reasonable amount of tier stones.

I'd still suggest going through several upgrades though, because I'd assume that OP is a midgamer. While its easy for us here to say "oh, get the shackles, and tier 9 it" For an average midgamer to pay 300 million for one is anything but easy.

@ rui if you look again at the ones that I linked to, one is crafted thus in theory should be easy to get IF someone takes the time to level their woodworking. The second one is a drop from a specific mob, which in theory would be easy to get. I do agree that there are much better ones out there but just how easy are they to get or even how cheap will they be?? Not disagreeing with you just pointing out a few things.

As a semi average gamer myself, I will agree with you that the easier staffs to get cna make some decent PvP ones. Endgame staffs or those that require someone to do a ton of hard instances to get usually are not worth the gold it costs to get them from teh AH due to greedy moneygrubbers. I do check out the AH on Reni often but I refuse to pay over 50 million for any weapon no matter where it comes from (and have gotten some killer ones at that price). Seeing as we cannot hold more than 999,999,999 gold attempting to sell something for more than anyone is capable of paying is rather stupid.

IMHO, tier 7 is a waste, you should go from T6'ing weapons at 55 - 62, to T8 at 65-70. T10's are only for those that can afford it; if you can, great, if not, not such a big deal. Remember the cost goes up geometrically, while the benefit is only linear.

Agreed. The actual cost of going to T10 is crazy stupid. Especialy if you are attempting to clean stat while tiering.

What if u dont use any real money would it be realistic to make lvl 10 alts get the charges and make tiers on your alts then send the tier 10 to main and tier it on staff?

Or in CoO. Thats how I'm making my T9's is by alts. I've even developed a method to were the alts can buy all of the things needed to make the tier stones by themselves with no help from my main character. Besides me giving them the belts required.

Depending on the ammount of gold you ahve plus the number of charges, and including the cost of the mana stones, it could take as little as a few minutes up to a few days. The more money you have ingame and real life will shorten the process conciderably.
