Let's try a more direct approach. You said that pc only reboots when you're playing RoM. When heavy ammounts of data are beeing processed and pc reboots there are several issues that can cause this:

-faulty power supply
-bad memory block
-bad hard drive alocation
-overheating VGA
-bad VGA memory

For the supply there are two ways to verify, one is just replace for another one or opening your PSU and look for rusted capacitors. Of course a person with repair knowledge would identify these capacitors in a blink of an eye

For the memory and hard drive, you have some tools to do this job for you, just download this live iso from www.ultimatebootcd.com. In this ISO you'll find a lot of self explanatory diagnostic tools to check either memory and hard drive

As for VGA for a non technical person the only way I can think of is replacement of the card. We have some tools to test either overheating and memory from VGA cards, but these stuffs aren't so cheap. Hope you'll find the problem.

L3g3nd I would highly recommend replacing your power supplu like it has been mentioned earlier. Get one with rated at least 600+ watts to be on the safe side. There are a lot of factors that can cause a power supply to fail including: age, if you have, or have had any power problems in your area, also new addons to your computer (some of the new video cards require ridiculous ammounts ot poer to run right). Seeing as it now reboots rather frequently I would venture a guess that it is the 5v rail that is failing on your current power supply. That is usually the one that goes first.
The 2 brands I recommend most are enermax and the thermaltake power supplies. I have always had good luck with both and they are rather easy to install if your have a decent ammount of room in your computer. Also if your power supply is failing it can cause sysptoms as if your computer is overheating. Best Buy used to carry a power supply testor but not sure if they do now, I ahve one and it has saved a lot of grief(and money) for me in the past.

Ok, I see both of you above mentioned power supply. By replacing power supply, which component exactly am I replacing?
Also, my computer is DELL and it is 4 years old so far. My graphics card also hasn't been replaced in over 3 years.

It's the silver box inside your CPU, some manufacturers, make custom PSU, but overall they are mostly the same and looks like the pic below

Yes, that I have.
This is too much effort and too much money just to play RoM. *sigh*

Lol, its not just a means to play RoM. Computer hardware is outdated every 18 months and considering you have a dell (Which is used primarily for working and not gaming) its likely you have a computer that's outdated in more ways than you can think of.

Learning to put new parts in your computer is a great way to learn About your computer. I noticed that as i built and replaced parts in computers the more knowledgeable overall you become about the entire concept of the package.

Ergo, knowledge is power. It may seem like a hassle to replace PC parts, but its better than waiting for two weeks to ship it and paying someone 40 bucks to do what you can do in 10 minutes.

well, Idk where u live, but here in Brazil a 600W PSU is near R$50,00 what would be around US$25,00. This I spend with coffe during week.
And computers like yours, meaning proprietary brands, usually comes with already outdated hardware, so you might consider this, or you upgrade your current system (what in most cases are cheaper), or buy another computer.

I think I'll just visit Fry's Electronics and buy one once I confirmed it's a power issue since it's so cheap.
Funny part is that I play RoM on slim client at the absolute lowest details (minus view distance) yet it still requires so much power... interesting.

L3n3gd Seeing as it is a Dell, and they have a very bad rep for making their own hardware. I ahte to do this but replacing your power supply MAY cost you more in the long run.
IF I were you I would replace your computer with either an HP, Gateway, or a Toshiba, seeing as none of them use custom hardware. All three of the ones I mentioned have some very nice lower end ones that will play RoM and are even upgradeable if you make sure that they have a seperate video card. Here is an example of a ibuypower that will run RoM at lower settings fine: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/iBuyPower+-+…7&skuId=4894237

Good thing about the above is it is highly upgradeable without killing someones budget. This is only a suggestion and you may find one better that you like. But no matter what you diceide upon think about its upgradeability. Also unless you like onboard graphics (which some are a pain) make sure the video card is seperate from the motherboard.

For playing RoM, no.

For the moment, ignore the suggestions that you should upgrade your PSU or get a new computer. In the mean time, send me a PM with a dxdiag and I'll take a gander at it. Use the link in my sig below for instructions on how to do a dxdiag, if you need them.

Alright, thank you so much. I'll get to it.

EDIT: I have 20,000+ characters in my dxdiag but PM only allows 5,000 so I guess I should post on forums.

Depending on which model it is it should be fine. If RoM was working fine before now then like was said the problem may be your Power supply failing. If you feel comfortable replacing it then make sure you get a 600 watt+ enermax or even a thermaltake. Both are real good. I personaly ahve a 800 watt enermax in my gaming machine.

4 year old PSU? If so, I would replace it without a 2nd thought.
A 4 year old Dell would not have had a good quality PSU & after 4 years even a good quality PSU woud be due for replacement.

I wouldn't bother paying extra for a better >named< brand PSU in a 4 year old computer. I'd just replace it with a cheaper generic model PSU.

Acet, here's my take on your dxdiag and some searching:

What you have is essentially a repurposed business or workstation computer. The good news is that your CPU and video card are fine for playing RoM, even if your video driver is a couple of years old. That in itself is easy enough to fix, but there are other problems. I'll get to those shortly.

You might want to do some spring cleaning. Open up the case and vacuum the thing out. Use canned air to blow accumulated dust off the system board and other components. Pay particular attention to the PSU fan and air outlets at the back of the case. If you smoke around the computer, you'll probably have to wipe dust and crud off the case and CPU fans. You can use lens cleaning wipes for that. Overheated components can cause the same rebooting issues that you've been experiencing.

Now, for the rest of my opinions...

You could stand to max out the amount of system RAM in this machine, and that no, the PSU really isn't up to snuff, even when it was new.

System RAM: Your Dell Optiplex uses PC6400 DDR2 800Mhz SDRAM modules, has two RAM slots available, and can support up to 4GB of system RAM. You have 2GB installed, probably 2 x 1GB modules. 2GB is the minimum that Microsoft recommends for Windows 7. To install more RAM, you would have to purchase a pair of 2GB modules and remove the existing RAM. Shopping online, you'll find 4GB kits for anywhere from $40-$70.

Power supply: It's difficult to tell, but the standard PSU for your machine has an output of either 235W or 255W. Either way, this is okay for a business computer but rather too low for what is ostensibly a "gaming" computer. The video card model you're using isn't listed in any of the Dell docs I looked at. Using the MSI Power Calculator and presuming the lower-wattage PSU, you're putting a load of about 200W on the PSU. That doesn't leave a lot of overhead.

You wouldn't need to go hog wild and get a PSU with massive output. A 400-450W unit would be quite sufficient. And it's been a fairly long time since Dell was using PSUs made to their internal specs, so finding a replacement upgrade should be easy. I'd recommend opening the case and taking rough measurements (length, width, height) of the PSU that you have, then having those handy when or if you shop--again, online--for a replacement. A good-quality 80% certified PSU should be available in the $50-70 price range.

Installing the RAM modules isn't difficult. Installing a replacement PSU requires more work, and you may want to have someone else do that. If you decide to have a local shop do the work, then it would be best to buy the RAM and PSU from them.

That's it, I hope this helped and gave you some ideas on your options.

Alright, thanks for the help guys. My current wattage for PSU is only 350W and I think I can conclude that my PSU is one of the reasons why my computer is rebooting within minutes of playing RoM.
