Thinking about returning, have a few questions

Hello, I am a very very early player, I started RoM just after release, and stopped not long after that.

At the time the game was VERY grindy after level 20 or so (because almost all xp for second class came from dailies), and the cash shop was necessary.

I was wondering is the game still really grindy, especially as early game as it used to be, and is it worth coming back to if I never experienced much past level 20, and don't intend to get to raiding (I just want something to waste some time on)

the storylines are very good but the cash shop is necessary if you want to get semi geared but with a good guild you can still have alot of fun. if you just go questing in the regular zones you could probly play for a couple months

Not a ton of grinding just to level anymore?

For TP, yes you will grind end game mobs during a TP event.

For XP, I would say it is NOT grinding for the most part. RoM is a quest-based game and quests are usually sufficient enough to at least level one class without having to worry about running out of quests. There are also plenty of dailies to do. If anything, I;d say RoM is the least grind-based in terms of leveling up of any game I;ve played.

I know when I first played, you had to spam dailies to level your second class at all, it was really annoying and grindy

I don;t consider that as grindy at all. Grind to me, means endlessly killing mobs over and over. Doing dailies 10 times a day takes me 2 minutes. It's far too easy to level in RoM. I doubt leveling will be an issue for you, especially with 1 million xp orbs out there 1-31 in a blink. 31-36 in another blink.

I don't know anything about these orbs. Some dailies weren't too grindy, but I was doing some frogs in the level 20-30 zone and it was such a grind

Yea, but now we have butterfly / guard dog dailies (No, I don't expect you to know what I'm talking about) but anyways these dailies are level 50 (you can do them at level 48) and they give 266k xp per... which is a crap ton. I popped 10 one mil xp orbs to ding 48-49ish I believe and I started doing these dailies on my mage side and I went from 50-55 within minutes.

Also Chapter V is coming and chances are there'll be even better dailies.
Dailies now are a breeze and it's really not as grind based as you describe.

So what are these XP orbs, they sound familiar from when I used to play, but I think I didn't use them

They start as XP charms and XP goes in there as you kill mobs and once it's filled, you click on it in your char equipment menu and it becomes the orb.

Through quests, there are enough to get your main class to 70 (main zone lines), a second class to ~30 (Sascillia Steppes --> Dragonfang --> Ystra), and a third class to 50 (Coast of Opportunity --> Xaviera), without the use of daily repeats--just through normal questing in each of the primary/secondary/tertiary leveling zones. Beyond those levels, however, quests do become scarce, and while you can still get some to turn in on a secondary or tertiary class, most of the leveling of those two other classes will be done either through XP orbs or dailies.

A little tip for leveling, though - If you die and have exp debt, don't use quests to get rid of it. Up until 31, you have a newbie pet that will give one ticket a day to get rid of exp debt. Use it. Every quest you use to get rid of debt instead of a redemption ticket (which after 31 comes from the CS/ptoken shop), daily, or guild library, is a quest wasted. People who use quests to get rid of debt, which piles up quite a bit in the higher levels, do often find themselves short on quests.

@L3g3nd: 50-55 within MINUTES? My Mage is still lvl 53.5-ish and he runs back and forth for seemingly half an hour every day since lvl 48 IN ADDITION to regular quests in SL and occasionally AV. Either I'm screwing something up, or you did that during the Triple XP Weekend.
Ithiriz(Osha M/R/W 50/30/25), Saerimuus (Osha Wd/D 12/1), and some other Elf, Osha D/S 13/10, not to mention a few random characters on random servers that I made but that you probably won't ever see.

Ystra is a part of the main line & the second class stuff stops after Dragonfang Ridge.

You can do some quests in Ystra on your secondary without running out for quests for your primary. I've done so on all characters. Can't do much, but you can do some.
