Total Noob Craft Questions

about how to plant my first seed kit...

ok, i had to get a house first, so i got one.
The info from the npc said i had to put my POT on a table...
so, i bought a table and put the pot on it.
Then, the info on the seed and soil and water says...
"use the planting INTERFACE", and i have no idea what that is.
I tried dragging the suff onto the pot, that didnt work.
so, how do i put my stuff into my pot and grow my first plant?

about my first tailoring attempt...
I gathered a ton of materials, herbs, ore, wood.
i bought the very lowest tailoring recipe at Elves Island.
When i open my tailoring screen, it says the materials i need, which i have.
The CRAFT icon has a green checkmark in it, so i click that...
nothing happens.
Seems the recipe is level 3 or something, i dunno.
so, how can i craft my very first tailor item???
how can i craft a level 3 item when ive never crafted a lvl 0 item??

nobody ingame was able to explain these things to me, sorry.

i have been playing 3 days now, and i am enjoying myself immensely, but...
there are sure alot of things which really arent made clear by the NPCs info.
I want to be an all-round character, living in this virtual world.
I want to do all crafting, make my house nice, invite some friends over to see it.
I like to pretend that im there, living in the world, ya know what i mean?
and i also enjoy gathering, its not just a chore to me.
thanks in advance for any answers and guidance so i can have some fun :)

Hey mate look
U need to do the first planting quest u get a seed and put it in the pot slot and give it some water and soil.
Tailoring there will be a quest which says learn tailoring, if you have done that there should be a recipe you can do without having to buy it. If you need further help tell me which server you play on and maybe we can meet ingame and work this out.

Ps i play on Macantacht

Click the Pot to open the Planting Interface.

For tailoring, ask the tailoring instructor to teach you tailoring & he/she will give you a level 1 recipe for free.

ok, i did those things and heres the update

planting, clicked on pot, opened interface
dragged water into water slot
dragged compost into fertilizer spot
dragged seed into see slot, that said... "use magic irrigation water"
problem is, beside the water and soil, the icon that says "use" is dark
only the "cancel" buttons work... so i still cant use the water and soil

tailoring update...
i have the tailoring skill and i got the recipe
interface says three choices of what to tailor
the one at the top seems to be a simple lvl 1 shirt
so, now i cant figure out how to choose from the three items in my list
ive double-clicked, ive used ctrl click, shift-click, nothing works
so, im still stuck, sorry

ive crafted in tons of games, but this is totally beyond me, sorry
i dont thik im a moron, really, but the stuff just doesnt seem to work for me
im getting very irritated here, so going back in-game to gather more materials
one day, i hope to actually use them.
thanks for your advice but, clearly, you are dealing with some sort of moron.
me.

Hit "K"
Select tailoring.
Hit the product you want to craft. It will show in upper right section. It will also show which materials are needed in lower right section. If you have them, click on "craft" button. If not, it will show what you are lacking.

Did you click the "Plant" button beside the seed?

Click the button beside the seed to 'push' it into the pot and then you can add soil and water.

I think I understand the tailoring question. When you're about to craft something, you'll see three possible final itens (green / blue / purple). I guess he / she is trying to select between them. But you can't. These are randon, just as the extra atribbutes, possible one or 2 slots and power modifier. So you may try to craft same item several times to reach the ideal for you.
As for planting.
-click on the pot and interface will open
-drag the seed to seed slot and hit planting
-drag water to irrigation slot and hit irrigation
-drag soil to fertilizing slot and hit fertilizing.
Simple as that.

So, you know, I'm max level on planting so let's see if we can sort this out for you.
First, you do not have to use a table, you can set your pots on the floor of your house.
Second, and this makes it ever so much easier... there's an addon called "PlantCare" at curse.com, get it if you can.
Now...
Step 1: Put your water and fertilizer into their respective slots
Step 2: Put your seed into the seed slot then press "Plant"
Step 3: Click on both the "Water" and "Fertilize" buttons to nourish the seed. (For this beginning level, the seeds grow very quickly but from here on out, you will need to water & feed your plants regularly or they will die. I know this because I killed scads of plants early on. ;)
Step 4: When the plant is done, click "Harvest" to remove it and then go to the npc to turn in.

With the addon I mentioned above, the whole process becomes more convenient and you will receive messages on your screen telling you if your plants need taking care of or when they're ready to be harvested.

Someone already mentioned that you click on "K" and it will open your Skills screen. Then click on the particular craft's icon you want to work. Click on the recipe you want to create and go from there.
NOTE: You MUST be near a crafting station for that particular craft in order to create the items.
When you can, if you plan to use buy diamonds, you can buy the crafting station for whichever you choose to do and place it in your house. You will receive a small crafting bonus using the station inside your own house.

I hope this helped.

You don't mention which server you're on but, if it's Reni, feel free to pm me in-game. My char's name is in my sig below. Have fun! Oh, and fully expect, as you go on, to kill a whole boatload of plants at first! ;)

ok, heres the latest
got the seed in, got the soil in, got the water in
but theres a slot at the bottom of the interface that says "magical water irrigation"
and that last one didnt come with my quest planting kit
so, if i plant the seed and i need this magical water, will i lose the seed if i dont have it to put into the slot?
cuz the last thing i want is to lose my first seed that will get me to lvl 1 planting.
maybe i can just close the screen, but i have to click "plant" to see if it works without magic water.
and, if i click "plant" then the seed will be gone, i guess.

tailoring, to reach lvl 1...
i said i had the materials, but apparently i dont.
i need 2 ash timbers, and i only gathered one.
i have hundreds of willow, maple and even oak now
but i rode all over looking for where i got the one ash, and i only see the other 3 types.
so now, i need to find the ash area, which im assuming is just aboe willow in tier.
is it willow, ash, maple, oak, in that order?
that would mean that i found the ash close to vanaras, right?
i dunno.
thanks for all the help so far.
i play on godiva server, pve, number 3

Ok, Ash is the lowest level wood, so go back to Pioneer's Colony/Logar if human, Elven Isle if elf (you can also find it in Sacillia Steppes and Coast of Opportunity.)

You do not ever need magical water irrigation, but it is an option that helps the plant grow quicker. It can be bought in the diamond shop if you want to experiment with it.

Also, if somehow you mess it up and "lose" the seed cuz the plant dies, you can abandon the quest and get it (and the package) again.

Good Luck and happy gaming.

Ciao,
Dave

As for the timbers, bundle and sands, you'll need to refine what you gather, meaning you have to buy the recipes from npcs. Ash Timber, Mountain Demon Grass Bundle and Zinc Sand, you already own when you do the quest for gathering in Pioners colony, just hit K and you'll see refine skills for these materials - smelting, woodcrafting and extracting.

The magical water is an Item Shop buy; you do not need it to plant.

Planting can be done using the Soil and Water from the NPC's - you do not need to buy anything from the Item Shop.

The Snowflake Festival event (at Christmas time) has activities that reward you with Item Shop planting items :).

I'll second recontamination for Plant Care. Very nice addon that makes the process quite a bit easier. You still have to have some idea what planting involves, but the mechanics of it are automated with addon nicely.

As far as I remember, that was the only time when there was planting related promotion. Heck, with all the themed daily and weekly sales, I can't recall a planting-related one. I guess not enough people plant. The overall complexity of the system and the time-sensitivity puts them off, I guess.

As people mention, you should not need item shop planting items. A guildie who looked into subject quite a bit recommended using Zeus pots, though, for their lower drain rate. But, if you can check on your plants on regular basis, that is not really needed as much. Also, pixie water and pixie soil, sold in OS, make planting less work to use.

Is there a guide on planting that I missed? I looked around and for a relatively complex and increasingly important game system, there isnt a good guide I saw. Heck, the wiki page was one of the better resources, and that rarely happens.

ok, thanks to you all for helping me through these issues
i was able to go to elves islad and harvest ash ad more demon grass
i had been trying to use the raw ash, not made into timber, fool that i am
so, i refined the ash, went to the tailor station and made my 1st pair of cloth pants
materials needed included a pile of demon grass, so i went and collected 200 more, 2 stacks
then, when i went back to craft the same recipe again, seems i dont have enough grass
it says one pile, or stack, so i dunno
anyway, i figured out the interface at least

one question though i still wonder about in runes...
in most of the crafting games ive played, you "earn" skill by usig it
so, as your craft level rises, you can then craft higher tier items
but, in runes, is it only based on what recipes you have?
like, if a level one tailor had a recipe for a level 20 item, could that player craft it?
or does the skill level rise as you craft, and item level is dependant on craft skill level?
again, thanks for all your help, community
i looked at some recipes ive dropped, and they look really interestingly complex and fun to do.
im lovin it here

Not at all. The level of your craft has nothing to do with the level of your toon, well sort off.
-you can have a craft level higher than your char, but you might need level to go to the areas where you'll gather the needed materials, since you're doing cloth, you'll need a lot of disenchant runes that of course comes from mobs. Usually (as far as I remember), flying mobs drops it and if the mob is 2 levels or more above your char level it can drop even 2 or 3 runes at once.
-since the status, power modifier and attributes are random, you will need to craft a lot of same gear to get some decent gear for starters

It's fun to do this but in the end mobs gears and item sets given by quests are more worth than crafting. If I were u I would concentrate on other stuff like alchemy and cooking, since you're doing cloth I guess you might be with a magic class (druid, mage, priest, warden), and these are essencial stuff for these classes.
