Need help concerning directx and the latest patch

Hey guys, im new to the forums and dont even know if I am posting in the right place, but I really need help, or to be pointed in the right direction.

So after the latest patch for the game I have been able to launch runes of magic as usual, but when i try to log in a get an error message that says,"Your version is different from the server, please update your version."

I know many others have had this problem after the update and said that it fixed itself after they reinstalled DirectX9 but I have windows7 with DirectX11 pre-installed, so i cannot reinstall it or use DirectX9. I have also checked what version of runes of magic I have by checking the version number at the bottom right corner of the game's launch menu and it says that I have version 4.0.11.2531.en

I would appreciate any help becuase at the moment i cannot play runes of magic at all.

Actually, you can and you must. The DirectX 9 components of Windows 7 are updated by the DirectX 9 install program.

Unfortunately I highly doubt that DirectX has anything to do with your problem. By all means try to update DX9, it won't do anything bad to your Win7 installation, but that was for a different issue with a different error message.

I would recommend trying to repatch the latest patch from the manual patches, and then if that doesn't work I am afraid that I cannot recommend anything other than a full re-install.

Do you know how to uninstall DirectX11 so I can download DirectX9?

You don't want to uninstall DX11 - just update the legacy support for DX9. Just run the updater and there should not be any issues with it.

Microsoft's website has it. Just go to their site and search for directx 9. Follow the link to find the version you need.

This here usually means uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

Before doing a reinstallation, go here first: http://forum.us.runesofmagic.com/showthread.php?t=31461

Follow the instructions on downloading and installing the newest two or three manual patches. This may fix the problem. If it doesn't, then removing and reinstalling the game is the only other option.

The game uses directx 9.

The link Mega provided is for the web installer. It will check what you have & only give you the updates you don't have. It works with all versions of windows.

If you do run into problems with the web installer here is the link to the full download.

Some do have problems with the web installer but problems are rare.
