Crafting Limits and Other Fun

In another thread:

Quoted from "Seoidhal;535764"

Tirsla,

A question, are you also gathering your own resources as you go up in your crafting levels? Here's why I ask. Crafting and Gathering combined effect the Expert and Master levels of advancement. Here's what I mean:

Expert = can bring up 3 different crafts and/or gathering types (i.e., herb, mining, woodcrafting) to this level - for example, alchemy, herb and mining gathering
Master = can bring up only 1 choice of crafting or gathering to maximum level

Here's the catch. When you move 1 craft or gathering to Master level, it does NOT open up a new 3rd Expert slot to move something else into.

Only Planting is independent of the above Expert and Master leveling and I would encourage you to take on planting, too, because as you progress, it will allow you to augment your materials needs for your crafting. You may plant 10 pots at one time as you get to the higher levels. Another thing that many players do is use an alt for their crafting since your class level never comes to bear on the crafting and use their main leveling class to gather mats. I'm one of those, my primary is max capped on all gathering skills and I do alchemy and cooking on two different alts.

Have fun! :D

The only way the above makes sense is if the master levels on gathering are not meaningful - or you are getting all your highest level materials via planting. On the other hand, by the same logic they are meaningful for crafting? (By "meaningful", I mean that there is content available, not just an empty shell.)

Is that correct?

And if so, has there been a history of enhancing crafting/gathering as new chapters are released?

Yes, I'm wondering about a future when I might want to craft, or to gather anything/everything, once I have the levels for that to be reasonable.

Master levels on gathering are somewhat important. You need to be able to gather mats once you cross the best that pet gives you (L56 mats) and to refine mats that you gather and that you get from planting if you get them in lower refining level than you need.

We dont know if there will be any changes to crafting when Ch5 is out. People have been asking for a long time for raise in pet gathering max level and for excluding gathering from 1-only limit on master skills. Hasn't happened
-- Rustyx --- 92R / 92S / 92M on Reni (Guild KnightShift). Yes, running the new FOTM R/M, cause I am not elf enough to be WD/S.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.
