New damage on gates

How has everyone been doing with the new gates? They removed bleeds and I'm curious if there's people who've been barely affected by it. For me, it seems like the gate is 10x harder to kill without the bleeds thus leaving WA without the 3x bonus. I guess as rogues, we can sit there spamming low blows for 10 minutes then...

Last night, It took 6 people to get it to 50% in about 4 or so minutes, enought for Harold to wipe it out.

See, I totally don't have a problem with that because gates shouldn't be solo able but when you're in a small guild with only 12 people, you can't have half the people be working on gates and half on farming balloons / setting up crystal extractors / keeping an eye on the gates and then no one to defend the middle.

If it's going to be so much MORE difficult to take down, at least raise the costs of putting it back up. It would suck to see a gate be put back up in a finger snap after it took all that hard work to take it down.

Also, a couple of priests on the other side of the gate make it almost impossible to take down. Use of the scrolls was spotty, it appeared that sometimes they worked and others they didn't. Interestingly enough the scroll used by the rogue dod not damage the gate while that by a mage did.

I don't think people would waste their time spamming attacks on a gate for 10mins. Just get herald to use tornado and drop some scrolls.

Not getting 2 hits from WA doesn't matter at all the big picture, since people arent really using attacks to take the gate down

as far as i understood from the DE thread , the DEX scroll creates a DoT and therefore wont work on gates.

INT definitely worked, did not try STA because i was Herald myself.

Thanks, that makes sense and fits what I thought was happening.

It's good that you can't get the gate down in under a minute anymore. I think it was absurd that a single rogue could cripple an opposing guild in under 10 minutes by using hide and vamp arrow.

Now maybe we will see the siege engines in Siege again.

The whole point is to get to other side, beat down gate <2 mins, whipe out factories and chi-ka-bob good fight other side.
I'm just guessing that the point of the DoT on gate "nerf" is just to make it so guilds can't wipe out gates so fast and force them to get herald first but if that's the case, the costs of rebuilding the gate still needs to be upped.

I will be pushing across two catapults to the other side tonight. If a catapult is going to > my low blow, then might as well use it to your advantage, eh?

Until we get the damage reduction catapults are going to be completely useless. They're just get one/two shot as they always do.

See, this is what happens when we went for so long without seige engines being viable. People don't know how to use them. By the way, it is a ram you want, not a catapult....sigh. Catapults take down towers, rams take down gates, and there is a third one, i forget what for antipersonnel.

And, no, you will not be pushing two catapults to the other side, you may drive one, someone else will have to drive the other.

Unless AOE scrolls would be nerfed i still dont see siege engines viable.

On the other hand - if i remember the description of the scrolls correctly they scale with the according attribute - also with the damage the user of the scroll is able to deal? If the damage results not only from having x amount of scroll-attribute y, a general damage reduction in siege might actually also affect the scroll damage. But we probably wont know until the reduction arrives.

I have not even used any scrolls for ages because gates went down faster with DoTs...

I don't think the scroll descriptions are accurate. My r/s with nearly 0 INT does the same damage as my mage and takes out like 40% of the gate's hp.

I haven't used a scroll in ch5 though, so I don't know if they tweaked that. Basically anyone using an int scroll knocked off 40% in ch4 (which was really bad when they could be traded around)

If my low blows are going to start hitting for 20k with the damage reduction, I won't be able to protect crap. The siege war tonight, I didn't even bother going to the other side to take down the gate.

I guess people need a change of strategy. I guess it's more based on camping towers than actually trying to take down gate to get to the crystal.

The biggestroblem with siege was that it never kept up with the players. It is still at level 60 while the characters went well beyond that long ago. Until there is a COMPLETE reworking of Siege it will still be about who has spent the most RL cash on gear.
I suggested this a bit ago but the naysayers shot it down like a duck with a sign that says "Shoot ME". Runewaker needs to recode siege to match the level of the players and then remove the current siege and replace it with the new version. As it is Siege engines are a joke, guards are a joke, I will even go so far as to say this: the castle defences are a massive JOKE. Until there is a massive reworking of Siege it is pretty much a JOKE.
