3rd class and not-so-newb coast of opportunity

So, I hit the magic 20/20, and got offered a chance to pick a 3rd class. Along with that came a teleport to Heffner Camp in the Coast of Opportunity - which I presumed to be a newb training area similar to e.g. Reifort Camp in Sascilia Steppes. Well, it doesn't seem to be very newbish - quests seem to start around level 20, though possibly I missed some very low level ones (no ! symbol) and I didn't have to go down the road very far before I met aggressive opponents that handed me my head. By the time I found the first transport link beyond Heffner Camp, I'd died twice - the opponents at that link weighed in at level 28. (I'm 20/20.)

So how is one supposed to train the 3rd class, assuming one confidently did all the low level quests in the existing newb areas? Low level dailies? (If I remember right, dailies done on a strong class can't be handed in on a class that's more than 10 levels weaker - guaranteed to happen for the 3rd class, since you have to be 20/20 to get offered it.)

Did I miss some useful quests right in Heffner camp? (I teled out post haste and used an atonement voucher, rather than exploring still more ;_()

And while I'm asking questions - how far in would I have to go to find a house maid?

If you switch to that 3rd class, you will find where the quests start - only 1 visible on the map.

Coast of Opportunity is designed to let you level from 1 to 42 very quickly. Add in Xaviera and you can get to 50ish very quickly.

Monsters are tougher but quest rewards are better and let you properly equip yourself for the zone. The learning curve in Coast of Opportunity is much steeper than in the other zones, but the quest XP reward is much higher to compensate. You may find you want to stick with your current 2 classes for a while and come back to CoO later?

As a guide:
Heffner Camp is for about 1-20;
Fellowship of the Singing Spring - 20-25;
Lyonsyde Tribe is about 25-30;
Desert Investigation Post - 30-35;
Quodate Plains - 36-42.

Quests on Quodate Plains become quite a bit tougher and I find whichever class I try to play, there are a couple I tend to leave alone until I'm about half-way around Xaviera and then come back to complete.

Also, the House Maid is located in Heffner Camp - World Search for "Nicole Rebecca" - and she has some highly amusing identity issues leading to her referring to herself in the 3rd person. :D

When you get to heffner camp, after you teleport in by snoop. If you go into the camp the housemaid is pass the pet hunter she will be a little to the left, right behind the clothes line. If you look at your map down by the ships you should see a yellow check mark that is where you start to level your 3rd class.

Great, thanks. I'm undecided whether to try starting a third class or not. I don't need it - the two I've got are fine - but it's usually a good idea to train classes in parallel, _if_ one intends to play the lot. Also, looks like I'll be in that area chasing Old Bags on my main classes, and one thing I don't want to do is use up quests I'll want later for the 3rd class.

You missed all the low level quests because your level is too high to see them. You need to go into your map settings and disable hide low level quests. Or, you know, actually save them for your third class.

Alternatively, a rather expensive solution yet effective solution is just to use an Experience Orb (1,000,000) to pump your third class to 31 and then do Xaviera dailies until 40ish.

Assuming you have a 50ish main, you can then do fly / dog meat dailies and then complete them on your tertiary class.

That was my plan - I was simply curious and taking a look around. Apparently I need to go there to do "Old Bag" quests or do a lot of annoying gathering; guess which I prefer ;-)

The easiest Old Bag quest is at Johnny Walk in Heffner Camp - he's by the other end of the camp, toward the coast.

The "old bag" quests are not for training, but for elite skill certificates. You can do them here, or other places on teh trail, or the old fashioned way. But you do need your elite skills don't you? And, actually, in Heffner camp are not so much the "gathering" quests.

All is now fine. I've gotten 4 elite skill certificates off of Johnny Walker, after a bit of a battle with his instructions. Now I need to gain some levels before I can get any more elite skills. (21/21/7 at the moment.)

You got robbed. You should have gotten four bottles of fine Scotch from Johnny Walker. :D

Just kidding.

The Old Bag quests from any of the public quest NPCs in CoO are different and variable, to a certain extent. And yes, the instructions might seem a bit on the obscure side at times. The ones in Heffner Camp that Johnny *Walk* gives you seem to be the most varied, but are also the easiest to accomplish, and are good for all elite skills from levels 15-50, all classes. (The level 15 elites for Dwarves seem to be different, and are generally easier to accomplish--with the exception of the Champion class. But that's another issue entirely.)
