Strange Letters quest...at Kingdom of Kalon

I'm trying to help a friend with this quest, we both the have "Bottle of Liquor" but everytime we talk to the guard outside the cave he wont accept the liquor and can't get in, he just tells us to scram....
Are we missing something?is this quest currently bugged?:(:confused:
Any help will be appreciated...:)

Is it Bottle of Liquor or Flavored Liquor. If not latter, you need to flavor it.

Well, first, your quests tell you how to do that. Second, go speak to the merchant on his own at the very east side of the map.
