If you decided to continue playing the battlemonk there is a level of patience you will have to have, with both the animations and the character itself. There are two other buffs the battlemonk gets that add visual effects to your character on top of the blue fighter. You get a golden ring that encompasses your character much like the wave armor, and you also get a red shimmering light that bursts outward from the chest area of your toon (looks like the effect from this weapon:

Bluntly put: you will never enter a zone or instance without making a scene. Between the screaming noise, the blue fighter, the golden ring, and the red shimmering lights, you're bound to be noticed.
If the animation bothers you I'd consider rerolling. The battlemonk takes TONS of patience with the character (to learn how to play and to learn to ignore the animation and screaming noise evertime you enter a new zone), and time to gear/stat correctly (well as correctly as you can. There's only one cloth set that gives pattack, but there's multiple threads on why the battlemonk is gimp endgame.)Word of advice: The battlemonk, despite it's appearance, is not for beginner players. It's a great solo character, but getting it to fit in with end game characters can be a struggle and might take some researching on how to play it successfully.
Note: if you reroll, don't pick a m/k they have the same fighter icon over their head (except white).
