I am not sure if I missed this in one of the patch notes or another forum post somewhere, but I am wondering if they are going to update the older gear for the newer classes with new set skills. This would give a lot of the players in the game playing the new classes a reason to do old content and might spark some more money to be moved around with selling of the gear.
