It sounds like you are stuck in he recovery partition. will have to get on the HP site and see what they recommend for that. typically though, the recovery partition does not have windows installed, normally just a semi dos like os with a gui shell. You normally have to hit a key at boot to start that up though.
If you open control panel, go to administrative tools, then find the disk management section. that will show you what partitions you have on your hard drive the largest one should be marked as active.
