Joblid the Giant Nuisance

I spent about an hour and a half this evening killing demon vines, bloodthirsty and otherwise, trying to get Joblid the Giant Flower to spawn. No luck. I'm wondering if there's a trick.

I concentrated on the ones on the west side of the road between Silverfall and the Distillery, rather than the ones near the Necropolis of Mirrors, because the ones near NOM have a lot of elites mixed in with them, and I don't do well if mobbed by elites, or even elites and normals. I did kill some of the elites, in case they werre Joblid in disguise, or some such.

As well as looking for Joblid where I was killing, I used World Search to try to locate him. He was never found.

I _didn't_ try wandering around the area where I found the dead bear from the previous quest, though I may have been there anyway. (I don't remember precisely where it was, and I feel like I was all over the south end of the Aslan Valley map this evening.)

Do I need to look somewhere particular for him, or kill particular bloodthirsty demon vines (e.g. the elites) or perhaps ignore the quest instructions, and just hope it randomly turns up, rather than killing (Bloodthirsty) Demon Vines to get it? Or was I just not patient enough?

I remember that joblid have 2 possible spawn area.

I've seen Joblid appear in 7 different places, all in place of a Purple-Collar flower. So, wherever there are flowers with a purple collar, Joblid could spawn there.

Joblid is one of those "progressive spawn" mobs. When you kill the demon vines, any one of them has a 2% chance or so of respawning as Joblid. So really, anywhere you find the vines is where he can spawn. Perodia is another one like that in the same area. Kill enough trees and you'll stand a chance of spawning him as well.

I saw him spawn 8 times in one night. We were just massacreing the vines to see if he would spawn and managed to get him to come out of hiding. He is replacement spawn so his spawn points are random whereever the vines are.

That is just bad luck. Normally it spawns in 30 minutes to 1 hour, if you are the only one killing them. And there are several places that the mob will spawn.

Fortunately you are not trying to spawn a mob like Hillarzu the First. WORSE MOB EVER TO SPAWN. You have to kill thousands of Fungus...takes many hours, with multiple people, to spawn that one. :(

Yes, you have to kill somewhere around 200 demon vines. I have seen parties spawn him twice within 15 minutes. It is best to have three groups in the three areas where demon vines gather, because it would be a shame if some random toon spawned him in someplace you are not, while just passing through.

Seven places....lawls. There are three areas where demon vines cluster, just south of town, behind the distillery, and over by the demon vine king south of that camp.

Yes, 7 is quite funny - I appear to have miscounted...

I'd have to agree there - some of those places I have encountered Joblid only once or twice but I have killed him many times on top of that hill.

Yes, you will definitely need to party up, preferably with some higher level players, to take out Joblid. If you're in a guild, ask them to help. If you happen to find Joblid up and floating around, put out a shout in /Zone, you might be able to find some people willing to assist you.

Funny thing is that for two of my active toons, I bypassed Joblid and simply bought the quest reward (Bloodthirst Earring, Heroic or Magic) off the AH and never completed the quest. I was lucky with my midget. A friendly and helpful person (Nerdo on Osha--thanks bud!) partied me up and roflstomped the noxious weed, allowing me to complete the quest.

i did this stupid flower for probably 30 guildies in one of my old guilds...easiest way is to wait for the zone shout he's up. since thats unlikely these days i most often found him in 3 spots. just down the road from silverfall and take a right over almost to the lake. or straight down from there near the brewery. rarely i saw him around the demonvine king near nom, but only once or twice.

but as with any spawn by kill..it's just luck. he has a chance to spawn from any red one and killing 1 or killing 1000...the chance he pops is the same. 10% supposedly

I have the card for Akeli :) Took several days of killing Elder's to spawn him & I was quite disappointed he just looked like any regular Reindeer. Still, I was so damn lucky to get the card...
