Housekeeper affinity- ack!

So I'm new to the game and haven't been able to play much for the past several days, but I've been leveling my housekeepers affinity up in the meantime. Today however, I had my highest housekeeper (my cooking lady) make me some food and it seems I've leveled her too high since she gave me food I can't use for several more levels!

I thought affinity was just how much they liked you, and then the table with which buffs or food or whateverat whichever levels was what level that specific skill was for the housekeeper.

So my lady gave me Caviar, which I can't eat until level 28, today! She's level 37 in affinity and 22 in cooking. So, should I not use my housekeepers as much during leveling? I feel like I've shot myself in the foot lol.

Ah, the trials of housekeepers!

Your housekeeper's Affinity determines how high she/he can raise her skills, up to their maximum capacity. For example, if you have a housekeeper at 37 affinity, and 22 cooking... every time you ask her to cook for you, she'll gain a level in that skill, until it reaches level 37... then it'll stop. If you chat to her, and her affinity increases to 38... you can then increase your cooking skill to level 38 as well.

If you have trouble with a housekeeper giving you food too high for your level, there is a couple things you can do to alleviate that problem. (1) You can level up while purchasing crafted food from the auction house, it's generally pretty cheap at low levels. (2) You can buy a new housekeeper and start over. Just know that she will never again offer you that lower level food now that she's a better cook.

While it is true that your HK can outpace you, I would encourage you to continue. Highest level food is only L40 and you should be getting to that fairly soon. Also, at high levels her ability to train diminishes. You will be lucky if a full day worth of Fatigue (6 tries) will give you even one affinity bump. So, if she outpaces you now, you will be without her food, sure, but soon you will be happy that she is that high.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

Thanks- looking at the auction house for food is a great idea!
