Party Questing Help

I may be missing something, being an mmorpg newb and all. However, I'm having a bit of a time trying to find help for the Sibanean Cave boss quest as well as co-op play in general. I understand that this quest is from an Elven start point/tutorial perspective.
I also didn't quite understand the timer in the Springfield farm area. Could I have assisted the mentioned NPC? The reoccurring timer always just runs out.
Basically, I'm looking for players to quest with as my play as been a wholy unsocial solo campaign so far. Any insight is much appreciated.
(I am a level 12 mage. Debating a dual class; support or damage dealer)

honestly, the lowbie zones are pretty much ghost towns until you get to silverspring, which is kinda the central city until you get to dalanis(lvl55). once you get to silverspring and varanas, at about your level, you will find many people willing to help.

Thanks Cike. I'll keep grinding, meanwhile. In Silverspring, I get a clock counting down regarding an ambush or something of the sort. What is that? The clock runs down and resets several minutes later. Is this an instanced? Any suggestions on dualing an elven mage? No worries, just askin'.

The timer you mention is the "public encounter events" you can simply ignore it.

This really depends on what you like to play. For questing, Druid is very good. Later you may wish to add a 3rd class for a bit better dps, Warrior is good, Scout is also good.

I myself have a Mage/Druid, not the best endgame mage but I manage to do ok. I keep putting off getting a 3rd class but if I do get around to it, it will be Warrior.

you click "yes" when the box pops up, but they are lvl 50+, so you would just end up dieing...
