Rogues and Siege War

Last night in Siege, an enemy rogue managed to get into our castle and destroy our processing factory without any of our gates being damaged.

So what I want to know is there a legitimate way a rogue can get into our castle without taking down a gate, or were we a victim of a hack or exploit?

It is cheating, so it is not legitimate.

Sadly there is noting you can really do unless you have video proof of them getting in the castle without using a gate that was taken down.

If a gate was taken down before, they can hide and wait in your castle.

You missed that none of our gates were damaged, and no one had to rebuild one.

Or that guy did accidentally enter your castle due to so known graphic glitches but decided since e went in , may as well kill the buildings in your castle. Oh do you mind sending me the guild name and player who did that "act" through private message. I like to take not of such guild and players so I can take precautions when I siege them.

Part that confuses me is that if someone is using game to full of its potential and game allows certain things, how's that cheating?

Someone jumping in Castle is nothing different then what was happening in real world back then. I actually think that was rare that enemy entered any castle trough front gate.

Why inability of programers to make this possible is called hax?

Just to clear up, never did that, nor having it in plan (also, not a rogue), but I don't see a problem someone doing it in SW. It is War.

GMs said so and there is consensus among the most of the players that it is wrong. Every game has some rules. While it is possible in chess to take a queen, shove it down your pants, jump on the chair and shout "Mine, mine, mine..." it is usually not done because of rules and implied agreement among participants.

I love when people compare this game with real life. The only thing that works the same in the real life and in this game is "Fearless" (siege Bubble). I know so, because I use it all the time when I am late so I have to run across street intersection during red light. I just shout "Bubble" to make me safe.

If we ever get matched in siege I would love to honour your request.

You are missing my point.

Point is that game atm 'allows' players to enter castle without breaking any gates. Our game design team was focused on new content and we know that by new zone, new race and 2 classes, and tell you the truth, I would be scared to ask them to fix SW, as more likely they will destroy more content then fix.

But it is still wrong in my opinion to go after someone if game mechanism allows them to do something without any additional software/without hacking any game code.

As for SW, sure, just let me install that video capturing mess before. :p

The game's not supposed to allow people to glitch into castles. How in the world would that be fair at all if people could do it whenever they wanted? It's been labeled an exploit, and rightfully so. You could say the same thing about LoS before they fixed it...mages and scouts could shoot through walls, so that must be an intended "game mechanism"...right?

There are bugs in any game, and this is one of them. You can't be so new to MMOs that you don't realize that other games have bugs labeled as exploits as well, and not every bug is such a simple fix. Siege is obviously not high on their list of priorities to fix, though they have improved it some, but saying a bug must be an intended feature is just bizarre.

It's sad that you feel the need to defend people who cheat in siege to try to win.

I work with software, so I know how easy and hard some things are, but changing just world topographics should not be that hard in time they even added more to existing world (so someone knows how to do it) and that is exactly what has to be fixed to remove this so called exploit. (even I disagree with calling this exploit)

This is not bug as LoS, but just simple structure at the wrong place, that should be easy to remove and it's not done by codding, but designing team.

And let's avoid calling someone cheater until proven guilty. Let's not jump into conclusion based on someone sorrow loss.

It reminds me of whispers I get that as M/R I should not be able to hide, and that is exactly what I have done in front of their eyes.

Allow me to offer a clarification or two, since the discussion centers around two recognized, known, and acknowledged--by Frogster--siege exploits.

There are, unfortunately, terrain and structure issues which can allow a player to enter a castle without taking down a gate. These are known issues, and using them has been judged an exploit. If you should happen to find and video capture--a screenshot is not sufficient evidence--an opponent using this exploit to gain access to your castle during siege, you are urged to upload the appropriate video section to YouTube or another media-sharing site, and submit a ticket to Support. Include a link to the video. If Support can determine that the player did indeed use this exploit to gain access to the castle without having taken down a gate, the player will be dealt with.

It has also been determined that entering a castle in siege by intentionally lagging through a wall is an exploit. Again, the only acceptable proof is a video segment showing the player doing this.

Finally, coming to the forums to complain about a specific player or that player's guild "hacking" or "cheating" in siege is not acceptable. While I note that the OP did not mention a player or guild name, doing so in any post or thread will get the post edited, at the very least, and can result in getting the thread closed.

Thank you for clearing what already was known.

And what are chances that GW will do anything to fix these issues? (did not even know for the other one, thank you for sharing ;))

I understand that it is difficult to police those fairly and there are many many unwarranted accusations in SW. That said, what are the chances that someone can video tape the exploit? You almost never see the crime, just after-effects of it, such as missing or damaged structure when all of the gates are up. And even if you do, what are the chances that you are filming it?

In any kind of of law enforcement situation, such "smocking gun" cases are very rare and most of them are judged on secondary evidence. Hey, maybe I did not see Bob taking my jewelry, but I see that it is gone and Bob was in the house is usually good enough.

Those damn OP rogues again... :) Let's nerf them!!!

Let me get this strait, if all gates were down and someone jump into castle, is that still exploit? How will you show on video if this is the case? :D

Agreed with vfwiffo. There needs to be some other way to report such cases of exploits. The chance that the one or two people in your guild that happen to be frapsing the siege are right at the gate at the exact moment the offender glitches through is very slim. It's a bit unreasonable that we keep getting the "if you don't get incredibly lucky and have your camera recording and pointed at the gate to catch the player in the act, it didn't happen" answer.

Edit: @ RoMage - There's a pretty significant difference between someone walking through an open door and someone glitching through a closed one. They're not the same thing.

Let *me* get this "strait"...

All three outer gates are down, and some idiot decides to hop into the castle using a terrain fault?

Yeah, I guess that answers the question.

That's why I feel there should be a means of publicizing siege issues.
We tend to keep track of battle, and if something is fishy, make a note and the next time we fight that guild have someone stay in the castle recording.
We fought one guild 3 times in a week, first battle they took out both processing with gates up, we assumed it was by shooting through the wall, then they took crystal with the gates never going down for the entire siege. Next time we had a low level stay and record, he caught someone jumping the walls. third time, I stayed close to castle and caught two of their members trying to glitch through the wall and gates one made it through the gate and tried taking out a processing.
When we fought them a while later, those members weren't there.

I feel the reason hacks/exploits are as common as they are is because it's so unlikely that there will be anyone in the right position to record and report it that you may as well say they will not be caught.
Being able to post somewhere about suspected hacks/exploits could get the word out and hopefully someone can catch them in the act to report it.

^^ This

Semi-related:

Awhile back, we took on a new guildie--one I'd known from a previous guild and didn't really trust. But hey, I wasn't an officer and I wasn't consulted.

The *first* siege he was in with us, and we were already inside the castle but nowhere close to being set up to go after the inner gate, he glitches his way into the throne room and takes the honor crystal. My GL went ballistic, both in voice chat and guild chat.

The miscreant finally admitted what he'd done.

He got booted immediately.

My GL went to the opponent's server, found their GL, and apologized profusely.

Not all players glitch, cheat, or hack. Conversely, not all Guild Leaders are honest and ethical.

Ya pays yer money and have to live with the results.

Players accidentally glitch through wall, ok I agree that is due to issues with siege server , but accidentally glitch through wall and happily went ahead to take out buildings when you should have just get your assss out by jumping off the wall/balcony ASAP that is exploiting.
