Runes of Magic US / AU

I know nothing about "textures", but after installing this morning's patch, the appearance of the Howling Mountains area has changed drastically. It looks rather as if the ground is made of much larger tiles than before. Gatherable resources look as they always did, as does my avatar. The minimap (upper right hand corner) looks a little odd, kind of like it too often does inside instances - the ones where I can't easily distinguish walls from passages, and have to rely on the "m" map to get anywhere - that only working after installing an add-on.

Varanas appears normal - but for what it's worth, I was there on a different character, different instance of the client - i.e. I launched 2 copies of the client, popped onto my main, briefly, and all was well, then decided to finish a quest on a low level alt, and found I couldn't see clearly to navigate.

My client was originally downloaded and patched at around chapter 3, but it's been fine so far.

I fear I'll need to reinstall, and I'm dreading it - typically it takes days to patch up to current, starting from whatever download is available on the site.

Any other suggestions?

Well, I'm still working on the initial download. It's run overnight and still not completed. I appear to be getting 161 KB/sec at the moment. This is using the download program on runes of magic's web site - the one you get when you finally find the currently rather well hidden download link. (Clicking on buttons like "play" leads to some kind of web based client, which I haven't yet tried; the download was buried in the account menu, of all the non-obvious places.) Of course I went for the full client, not the slim one - last time I did this I had to install various add-ons to get around the deficiencies of the slim client..

I hope this works. As I said at the start, I don't know how to recognize a texture problem, so this is only a guess. Maybe the latest patch is quite simply broken (on my hardware etc) however I instal it.

The download and repatch is finally complete. I hope it fixes my problem; judging by some of the other comments, it may simply have been a bad patch ;-)
