Server population?

I just recently started playing and have created several characters across several different servers and its just dead as it can be, or so it appears. Im thinking that might be because IM just starting out and not anywhere near close to being near end game content.

But in everyones opinion what server at this point in time has the heaviest server population? I can't survive in a game without interaction amoungst other players, not seeing anyone in several days is killing my interest in the game.

Artemis would be most populated.

My server, Osha, has just taken another population hit. Around a third of my guild has just left for that new game. Siege today was disappointing with so few logged on & even worse, we didn't have enough to do a run after siege. I really don't know if we can rebuild again.

All servers are a bit low on population at the moment. I play on Reni, and there are zones where you will not see single player for a while. (I have spent some time in Dragonfang Ridge least night, no single soul there.)

I play on artemis, and even though it is the most populated, there are a number of zones that are empty. Overall, the game population does seem slightly less from when I started back in mid chapter 3. There was an increase with chapter 4, then population dropped down, then a slight increase with chapter 5, and then more population decrease.

The starting zones, howling mountains for humans, elven island for elves, and shadowforge for dwarfs usually have a couple new players, a lot of alts/mules, a few high level players in logar, and a few gold spammers. Most ppl are concentrated in varanas, the kingdom of rarozan(high lvl zone), and still doing RT runs(even though RT IS OBSOLETE).

Forgot to mention, best place atm to see many players is Varenas central, next to mr. Cedric (Dias NPC) and Storyteller.

Last night was interesting finding all elements we needed. (one of them was 6 people)

Indigo was buzzing last night around the Storytelling NPC.. At least for the start of this festival, I expect to see more people in central Varenas working on titles.

Count me as one of the absent players. The latest patch messed up my installation, and I'm into a full reinstall, and the initial download has run all night without completing, never mind the patches. I'll be at work before it completes, and doubtless in bed (again) before patching completes, starting from when I get home from work. I'm about ready to look at "that new game" myself.

Well don't bother making any suggestions to Gameforge or Runewalker or whoever because they will not do anything about it. I have made numerous posts on server merging (apparently this is impossible to do for ROM) and also asked if it would be possible to transfer my toon to another server. On this question I was told by Aetherth that they were checking into this and would let me know. Aetherth has moved on to greener pastures and I have not heard a single word from anyone else.

It is probably to much work for the developers or something to help us that have remained to play Runes of Magic. They don't seem to care that we are paying customers that are unhappy with the low population and the inability to be able to advance in this game.

I am also considering going to that other game, I am sure that it would be less frustrating than this game where asking simple questions is like banging your head against the wall :(

I don't think that Server merging is even possible, so I don't know why even bother suggesting it.

On the other hand, option to move character to different server should be easier to implement, but I guess that they (GF) lack DB administrator capable to create required scripts to dump data to file, make sure everything is OK and load data on the other server. Again, not much Frogster can do about that.

It is interesting that last couple of days while in Varenas doing story-teller event, occasionally you can see need FA run for lowbie. Haven't seen this in a while.

And somehow amid all this, EU managed to launch a new server recently. Crazy times.

yea Od the European servers are where they make their money. I doubt there is much priority for the US/NA servers. Sometimes I wonder if they really just want to close the NA servers down.....lot of actions from them suggest that.

The game is old enough to where something has to give, either they need to make the game a lot less expensive ( which you can see steps in that direction on some areas ) or they just need to go ahead and close it down.

I used to play a game years ago that had the population dwindling problem. They had 12 servers if memory serves me right. They were able to merge 2 servers together leaving them with 6. just saying.

They've told us flat-out that server merges are out of the question.

Honestly though, something has to be done. The population was already much smaller than it was a year ago, and it's been shrinking even more due to the game that just came out.

yah sadly due to the game coding when it was created, server merges are impossible to do. even to do character transfer's i don't think it's worth their time and effort to do the work for it. it might just end up bugging out and causing more problems. Character transfers would be great thou. to help a game that is losing a lot of players would be to put the remaining players on 2 servers(pve and pvp)

im thinking of coming back to ROM but after the number of threads on server population, im thinking it would be a major error on my part to come back especially since im on the palenque server.

To the next mod that comments on this post, when you are done criticizing it, be it me mentioning another game or necro posting, can you comment on the the more important issue of server population? Specifically if there are any intentions of enabling toon transfers.

While I have toons on all of the US servers, I only play regularly on one server.

I have no comments or information on server pops, and it's been stated numerous times that character transfers to other servers simply cannot be done at this time.

Iv only seen comments on the issue up till august so I had to check if there was some miracle between then and now. Looks like who ever is responsible is gunning for an increase in popularity based on content to help servers fill out. Since that won't happen in my lifetime, I bid you a hearty farewell Kalvan.
