Newbie Questions

Hi! I just recently started playing about a week ago. I'm loving it so far.

Right now, I'm playing with a P/M, and I plan to create some more characters later. I know that most things are not shared among characters, but can anyone give me a quick list of what is shared, in addition to the storage chests?

Also, I plan to buy some more stuff from the Item Shop next week. I already have the Flame Mount, the 2-Story Wooden Family House, and 20 pieces of furniture, with 70 XP and 165 TP bonus, along with 60 Carpentry bonus. I know the bonus from the carpentry isn't much, but it kind of looks cool in my house. :D

I don't mind grinding, so I'm kind of shying away from the XP and TP potions and accessories, and the encyclopedias don't really seem worth it. Any suggestions?

Also, I plan to save all my rubies for upgrading end-game gear. Is there something else I should buy with rubies now?

Thank you.

Anything that is not bound can be sent. Also, you can share mounts, but toons have to be on same account. That is not a good idea to do so, despite shareability.

XP and TP bonuses are not a bad thing. Only applies to combat XP/TP, which is not much.

Save rubies. There are some items only in ruby shop, and you will always run short on those unless there is a short term sale of those in diamond/token shop. Perfect gems are main expense, but there are others, like storage.

How's that? Unless I missed something while I was gone, the partner bag doesn't make a mount accessible to other characters on your account. They also won't transfer mounts now either.

As for the rest, agreed. XP furniture really is optional, but I would highly recommend getting a few pieces with TP bonus (and logging your toon out in your house to gain the benefit). TP is very, very short at higher levels, and you will end up needing to grind some during TP bonus weekends.

Storage, if you have the diamonds, I would honestly at this point recommend just to rent bank/bag space with those, instead of rubies. Rubies are hard to come by now, so you really should save them for Master Drillers or Perfect Jewels. You'll thank yourself later when you're not scrambling to find ruby sellers (which are few and far between nowadays). You can also get quite a lot of bank space by doing events such as the one currently active.

Oh, it was supposed to be. I haven't tested one in a while since I don't have multiple toons on same account.

OP, there are some things that are one-per account. Some promo codes are that way, also a log in (you can't have two toons on same account logged in at same time). Because of that, most people who run multiple toons put them on separate accounts. If you are going to be developing them far, might want to do it now, before you put lots of resources into something that is suboptimally arranged.

Yeah, I too was disappointed when they first released the Partner Bag, since an FM or GM or someone actually said that it would share across the account >.<. Checked it again after I posted though, and still a no-go. :(

Someone told me that when I was new and I spent 3 hours trying to find out how to do that ><

no one should use encyclopedias when lvling their first toon

There are at least two good uses for toons on the same account as one you play seriously. (1) storage mules - save money by using their free storage. (2) crafting alts - you can only max one skill per toon, and there are 10 skills (planting doesn't count against the limit). As far as I can tell - not having trained anything much but gathering skills - the crafting skills can be trained without leveling the crafting toon very far - provided you have a source of in game money, such as a high level character farming gold.

Personally, I have a whole bunch of level 10-ish storage mules, that I've played a bit to get a feel for each basic class. I only have one serious character, and one semi-serious one... though it would be nice to have 3 eventually, and max all possible gathering skills. [Probably I won't last that long though.]

No, and no... Not the same account. Different accounts for gathering. You will have plenty of times when you want to run more than one client and you won't be able to. Storage alts, sure, they can be on same account. Even that is suboptimal, but you need more of those toons than accounts that is reasonable to set up.

There is not a good reason to have them on same account. My earlier alts, sure, I had them on same account, before I knew any better. Now I have 4 alts at XP cap (as in L72) on separate accounts.

One thing I can think of for the different accounts would be for making the storyteller event much easier to complete, but not sure what other advantages you might mean by the multiple clients?
Right now I have my main and one other toon that I have on the same account I use as a mule for now, but plan on playing seriously later.

Yes, but there are many other things you want to do at same time. Feel like refining? Fire up second client and put your alt on it for next hour or two. Want to check if your seller alt has any money for you? Pop up a new client, take a look and send money if needed (or your material alt, or rune alt or belt alt, or anything else you feel like). Want to gear your alt? Stick him in a HOS run on follow and play on your main. Want to make him a shell alt? That works too, you can have a full party in GG. Or daily runs. I know a person on reni who runs 5 alts at same time (and I bet he really, really, really wants the Dagger Skeleton 6-seater mount). Or make a priest so he can stay at instance entrance and then pop in to raise your real healer if he died.

There are tons of utility to be derived from this and zero to be derived from other way. Heck, you can save yourself half a dozen crashes a day if you don't constantly log out and log in on same ROM client, which you would have to do if your alts on same account.

For the most part rubies are for buying plussing stones or armor drillers, so save them until you absolutely must use them. People usually run out of rubies these days. This wasn't the case in previous chapters, but you get less rubies per diamond purchase and ruby prices went up too. Save Save! Spend them when you know what you need them for :P

These are good ideas, and I am considering making a second account. But don't you need a different e-mail address for a seperate account? I have just one, and wasn't sure if you could make more accounts with the same address.

That used to be not the case. The registration was split - you would create a frogster account and game account separately, and you could create a new game account on same frogster account. Not sure how it works now, the interface changed a lot, so might not be possible to make second game account on same email.
