Two things about AH.
1) If you have not downloaded Advanced Auction House (AAH), do so now. One of the must-have addons.
2) Place your item in sell slot and check history. I think this is AH functionality and not AAH, but not sure. Have not run without AAH in years.
3) I can't count to two... I mean... ummm... don't expect early mats to sell for a lot. Few are good sellers because some low-level foods/potions are still as good as it gets (Ancient Spirit Water, strong stim, etc). But most don't bring much.
