Mementos and Shells Questions

I have searched the forums and only found advanced info on Mementos & Phirius Shells.
It seems they are another form of currency in the game, but there doesn't seem to be any info on where to find them.
Where are they and what level is the average starting point to look for them?
Thank you for any help.

ADDED: I did just find info on runesdatabase.com, but any tips would still be helpful.

memento's come from the instance bosses, shells come from the mini games. i don't believe the memento's have a needed level but you must be over level 50 to obtain the shells.

Phirius shells require level 50 to obtain, and can be found in minigames. 50 from Coarse of Terror, 30 from Survival Game (Varanas Central, clown on the left of transport NPC), 50 from Goblin Mines (goblin standing on the right of AH), and 30 From Ancient Treasure Hunt (Sas. Steppes).

You can buy lv 70, 72, and 75 equipment with Phirius Shells from varanas central plaza, beside the bank, as well as beside the housemaid in Dalanis. These come with a Glorious stat (lv 70 pieces, cost 200 shells), Bygone stat (lv 72 pieces, cost 250 shells), and Dragon stats (lv 75 pieces, costs 300 shells).

They really help with gearing up, these pieces are often underestimated because of their "free"ness, but are decent equipment that can get you geared enought to do full GCH and maybe even TOSH.

Ancient mementoes drop off of bosses from any instance thats Heart of the Ocean (55) and above. Ancient mementoes can be used to buy gear from NPC's in almost every zone (usually beside the instance of that zone, or in the town). What is sold depends on the zone. Usually, the higher level the zone, the better the equipment, and the more mentos that it costs. Shell gear is often preferred over mento gear (exception of accessories, which are not available for shells, and mentos gear are often bought for their stats. These are usually farmed in Dungeon of Dalanis (57) and Grafu castle Easy (65).

Not the fastest way (compared to phirius shells), especially since the mento vendors in the new zone sell gear that mostly have crap stats on them. But decent stats from mentos tend to sell for more than their shell equivalent.

Ruisen pretty much summed up most of the information you need. There are a few extra details I thought I should add which you should consider.

First, each minigame costs 30 Phirius Tokens (the ones you obtain from dailies). Keep in mind that you only get 100 PTokens a day, and it costs 120 PTokens to complete all minigames. You will, however, sometimes get bonus PTokens as rewards for some minigames, which will offset the cost.

I HIGHLY recommend you read up on minigames before going into them so you have an understanding of what you need to do. They are all timed, and if you do not complete them, in most cases you will get 0 Shells. There are many videos out there on YouTube if you just do a search (I also have put some up).

Also consider that until you can afford top quality food, you can buy food buffs with mementos from several vendors around the world. They will provide damage, defense, and attack rating increases and typically last 15 minutes. To the best of my knowledge, they are 3 mems for a pack of 5 food items. Cheap for excellent buffs (up to about lvl 60 food items).
