Newb question on server selection

How do you select a server except for that button that says "Select Server"?

I tried to go to Osha on one of my accounts instead of my home at Reni. And I forgot the secondary password for it, so it locked me out for an hour. Fine, that makes sense... let me go back to my own server.

Well, I can't. As soon as I enter userid/password, it wants to log me into Osha. And that says "cant" and kicks me. I don't get to do a server selection because that button is greyed out till I log into my currently recorded last server, which is Osha where I can't do that for an hour. That means I am not locked out of Osha, I am locked out anywhere. And if I don't remember the password Osha, I am locked out period?

Soooo.... is there a way to select servers (or maybe reset server selection so it promts) when one of your servers is on lockout?

Edit...

Aha! Go to another account, the one that is not locked out, select server, then uncheck the button that does automatic server selection, then save and exit. Then your main account gets to pick which server before he is dumped to the locked out one.

So, answered my own question. But, still, system is crazy. Not everyone has other accounts set up for this.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

There is an option in one of the ini files in the game installation folder that has a setting "LastSelectedRealm=1" which can be set to 0. This forces a server select on log in.

(The actual setting is misspelled :D and must remain misspelled!)

Is the "LastSelectedRealm=1" option still available ? Im having the same issue, but have searched the ini's to no avail, and i could care less about playing the other character that i do not remember the password for. I just want to login again to the other server where i have both passwords working. This is soo frustrating and stupid.

Search for "GameSettings.ini", which is in the hidden RoM data folder. The setting you're looking for is "LastSecletedRealm". Yes, it's misspelled and it needs to remain that way. Change it to =0 instead of =1. 0 is the setting for unsaved server.

If you don't have Windows set to show hidden files and folders, you can change that in Control Panel/Folder Options. The easiest way to do that is, for Vista and Windows 7, to open Control Panel, and in the upper right corner, change View to Large Icons, then click on Folder Options.

Click the View tab, then look for Hidden files and folders. Click the radio button for Show hidden files, folders, and drives, then click Apply.

Even easier still - with a folder window open, tap the ALT key to make the Menu Bar appear temporarily & then choose Tools > Folder Options.

Those are all probably better solutions that what happened to me many moons ago. Had the exact same thing happen as mr fuzzy pink hat. I only got out of it by contacting support to reset my password on the account I had forgotten.

This is still an option - If you are able to contact Support from your registered e-mail, they can often reset your secondary quickly - but this technical solution works if you accidentally selected the wrong server or do not need to access the server you selected.

Thanks for the tip. Since I use Directory Opus as my File Explorer replacement, I hadn't known about or used that option. (DO does have a shortcut to the Control Panel in its Tools menu, so...)

Some omega 3 filled pills are recommended to permanently fix problem with lost/forgotten passwords. :D

If your RL alchemy is too low to make them, then other option is to use KeePass.

Hope this helps... :)
